Big and delicious for your ’perty mouth. Expect lovely, warm smells of single malt scotch, oaky bourbon barrels, smoke, sweet caramel and roasted malts. A bit of earthy spice and a scintilla of dark cherries. It’s a kick-back sipper made to excite the palate.

Bottle. Pours a dark reddish brown color with white head. Bourbon, caramel, vanilla flavors. Bourbon, vanilla, oak aromas. Really tasty beer.

From bottle. Pours a deep ruby red with an instantly vanishing beige head. Bourbon, thats the initial blast of aroma. Once that settles down I get some lighter hints of vanilla, dark fruit, and more bourbon. Taste is much of the same, and delicious. The bourbon is very forward, nicely balanced with vanilla and roasted malts. MF is what you would expect, just enough body to be velvety without being stout-like. Finishes with a nice warm bourbon feel. Truthfully, I don’t normally drink scotch ales, but this one is outstanding.

UPDATED: FEB 1, 2013 Outstanding. HUGE bourbon and incredibly rich caramel characters - vanilla and some coconut, wood, caramel - rich butterscotch and toffee. Taste is very sweet as well with big bourbon, wood, and caramel - very sweet and very smooth, soothing burn like a good bourbon. I am very excited to see what this drinks like with some age one it - already getting notably better with a few months on it. An outstanding beer that reveals something new with each drinking experience.

Pours a rich deep copper color with a finger of eggshell foam that settles fairly quickly. Aromas are warm and barreled. Oak, vanilla, smokey earthy spice and a touch of sweet dates... on the palate it is a lot of the same. Nice smooth balance between sweetness, booze and earthy notes. Masterfully crafted I must say ! Great stuff. Mellow and complex

Une superbe robe rouge foncée. Un simple anneau de mousse? Peu importe.

Amazing aroma predominantly of scotch and caramel. Nice smooth earthy taste that has hints of vanilla. Aftertaste lingers a bit, but all in all really love this beer.

Dark red, light haze and a thin beige lace. Raisins, dry wood and raspberries. Nice sweetness, concentrated aroma. Solid amount of bitterness, woody taste. Pecan. Sticky yet not thick. Alcohol warmth. Good. (At ZZT V)

12 oz. bottle, bottled 10/07/11, served in a Deschutes Snifter. A: Pours a very dark cherry wood with a deep body. An off-white head forms on the pour and dissipates to a nice ring and some floating wisps. Light really shines off this brew. S: Smells of bourbon with some light chocolate and subtle oaty malts. Very sweet smelling sugars as well. T: The bourbon is up front with some nice caramel malts. Bready malts, brown sugar and molasses create a nice sweet backbone. There is a slight vanilla sweetness on the finish with a little heat. M: Medium bodied, well carbonated with a sweet finish and some heat. O: The barrel is well integrated yet again in a Founders beer. This is sweet, but not overly sweet. Great beer. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 11-03-2011

Bottle @ ZZT V. Superb dark brown color with a dark red glare coming through, small beige head that disappears almost instantly. Smell malts, liquor, sweetish, oak, wood, bourbon. Taste malts, bourbon, wood, oak, liquor. Wow, I really like this one! Medium to full body, medium to full carbonation.
