4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20
This beer is amazing, a Scotch Ale reimagined through the eyes of an insane drunken poet. Pours a murky, ugly burnt amber color, with a head that gurgles momentarily before disappearing. Smells of bourbon and deep malt sweetness. The taste starts with the classic Scottish-ale buttery malt front, but quickly grows heavy with bourbon and caramel, coating your mouth with a liquor-fueled sweetness that proves irresistible. Straight bourbon finish, complete with tingly warmth and a sense of manliness. Smooth and burny texture, boozy and appropriate. Unbelievably good. (3/11/09)

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
From bottle at Holiday Wine Cellar’s private tasting in January 2011. Pours a nice reddish brown with a thin layer of beige head. Aroma is fruity with notable berries, sweet caramel, lightly peaty malts, wood, and light bourbon. Flavor has a nice fruity-berry taste along with rich caramel, peaty malts, and lightly boozy bourbon / scotch. Lingering sweet caramel into the finish. The high ABV for a scotch ale is hidden very well. (683, 563)

4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Huge bourbon and sweet malt nose. Very smooth in the mouth, even if the body is a tad thin. Lots of dark fruit with a wallop of bourbon topping things off. A fantastic sipping beer, that with a bit more body would be a phenomenal beer.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
The beer pours medium to dark amber with a small head. Smells a bit syrupy malty with some toffee notes and a little bourbon smoothness at the end. The flavor is light sweet malts, a bit syurpy on the body. The end comes with bourbon that is so smooth with no boozy bite at all.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Got this as a bonus in a trade with Cornboy - thanks! Pours ruby brown with only little head. Aroma has lots of oak sweetness, vanilla, fudge, a hint of bourbon, hot chocolate, maple syrup, hints of roasted nuts. Taste is nice and oaky, notes of sweet port, walnuts roasted in syrup, nice oxidation too. Very good. The oak is very dominating, but very nicely balanced.
