3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Rusty brown with small brown head. Aroma is interesting with bourbon, wood, caramel, cocoa, all kind of roasted. Full body, some alcohol moderately prominent. Flavor is pretty boozy, caramel, malt, a slightly sweet and dried fruit background. Complex. Borderline difficult to drink although ends up on the right side of the border. Ended up appreciating more than enjoying it.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Goose Island pint glass.
The color is a deep maroon with about finger and a half of foamy brownish head.
The smell is malty with some nice bready aroma and an interesting caramel aroma. Things seem to be well balanced even here in the nose.
The taste is sweet malts and some bourbon barrel overtones. Some oak flavor is there throughout the flavor. Some nice bitterness that goes back into a sweet malt flavor.
The feel of this beer is bold and complex with plenty of flavor to dwell over. Bitterness it countered by some sweet malt and things seem to battle back and forth but always seems to even things out toward the end.

12 oz bottle. Pours a dark copper with burnt orange hues. Aroma of scotch, cherries, smoke, oak, caramel and a touch of vanilla. Flavor is cherry, oak, smoke, coconut, bourbon, caramel. Wow, very flavorful without being too over the top. Well done!

Poured into a pint glass. pours a dark amber color with a small head.
complex and deep nose with aromas of malts, dark cherries, spices, raisins, and a hint of smoke
full bodied and really smooth with real deep flavors of caramel, malts, dark cherries, a touch of roast coffee and some toffee
This is rich and big. It holds the alcohol very well and is certainly not a gulping beer. The feel is really good and deep

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Woody, malty aroma has a strong overtone of bourbon - no surprise there! - and a hint of molasses. It pours a luscious clear dark caramel with a decent light tan head that leaves some good lacing. Rich, malty flavor has notes of molasses and horehound with a strong but not fierce bite from the bourbon and a woody, slightly fruity undertone. Smooth, fizzy texture has average body. Overall, delicious and recommended!

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: AUG 14, 2013 Reviewed on November 25, 2012, new review reflects score
Bottled October 8, 2012.
Appearance: The body is a clear mahogany with no head at all.
Aroma: This is very complex with oak, vanilla, dark cherries, and bourbon. I love the aroma here.
Taste: This is balanced absolutely beautifully with like smoke, oak, bourbon, dark cherries, light bourbon, and some earthy notes and peat on the finish. This is great and wonderfully complex.
Palate: Thick and syrupy with light carbonation.
Overall: This is not only an excellent beer, but it is priced very well. I donít think that thereís a better value in bourbon barrel aged beers, if there is Iíd like to see it! This is wonderfully complex with a lot to pick apart.
Cellar Review: Bottled October 5, 2013 (10 months old).
Appearance: The body is a beautiful garnet with great clarity. The head is short and doesnít last very long. The tan coating is sparse with a thin ring.
Aroma: The aroma is huge vanilla with oak, and a touch of bourbon backing on the initial sip. Upon swirling smoke and cherries are noticed with sweet malts that remind me of toffee.
Taste: The intro is strong of black cherry, fig and hints of smoke. Vanilla and watery bourbon are noticeable from the mid-taste to the finish. The finish lingers a bit of oak and is a touch dry. This drinks like complex, but watery bourbon.
Palate: Thick with light carbonation.
Overall: Time hasnít done anything good to this. I wonít age this again, it drinks about perfectly fresh.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle purchased in Holland, MI. Enjoyed at room temperature.
Phenomenal beer. Aroma is sweet malt, cherry, and oak. Malty sweet flavors on the front end, followed by a smooth tropical coconut/pineapple oak flavor and sufficient bitterness to balance it out. Mouthfeel is viscous and oily. An amazingly balanced, well crafted beer.
