4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This 12 oz bottle poured red, cloudy, and almost still into a snifter. Powerful aromas of bourbon, vanilla, and maple syrup intermingled with a flavor that gave off the slightest hint of cotton candy. Itís hard to imagine disliking this, but equally difficult to imagine quaffing more than one. This is a delightful aperitif or nightcap, though, and yet another treat from Founders.

UPDATED: JAN 21, 2011 Bottle pours dark brown with thin off-white head. Malty aroma. Sweet taste with bourbon, malts, scotch, caramel, vanilla, oak. Palate thick bordering on syrupy. Finish brief with a little hops. Alcohol apparent.
Nice, almost has a barley wine feel to it.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured from a 12oz bottle from Tytoanderson. Thanks Bro! Pours a very dark brown with minimal head...lots of lacing. Aroma is vanilla, bourbon, and smoked peat. Taste is loads of vanilla, bourbon, brown sugar. Smooth and very drinkable at 10.2% This is an amazing example of the Scotch Ale style. Awesome stuff. It is right up there with Alesmith Wee Heavy and Meantime Scotch Ale.

Burgandy color but no head. Definite aroma of the oak barrels; sweet but heavier like a red wine. Slight bitter (but enjoyable) taste with hints of coconut. Feels heavy on the palate with an almost perfect amount of carbonation. This is an outstanding and unique beer. I sometimes hesitate when giving ratings this high, but I cannot justify going any lower. Great selection!

Bottle pours hazy burnt copper with a tan head. Aroma is boozy with notes of bourbon, caramel, and a touch of peat smoke. Flavor shows the same with the oak making itís appearance as well as brown sugar, vanilla, and bourbon soaked cherries. Overall body is moderate, with an underlying sweetness and nice warming alc on the finish. MMMM.

Mmmm....pours nice dark brown. Aroma is of what else? Bourbon. Taste is like drinking carbonated bourbon. Very tasty if you love bourbon. If you donít like bourbon? Donít waste your time or money.

Bottle: Pours a brown/amber color with modest head. I had this brew on tap at a tasting event and it blew my mind. On bottle was no different really - I think this brew is incredible, really. It is a symphony of Scotch, Oak (It doesnít dominate at all ;) ) Big caramel malts, smoke is questionable, and dark cherries is quite questionable but either way. Amazing.
