Big and delicious for your ’perty mouth. Expect lovely, warm smells of single malt scotch, oaky bourbon barrels, smoke, sweet caramel and roasted malts. A bit of earthy spice and a scintilla of dark cherries. It’s a kick-back sipper made to excite the palate.

Wonderful aroma, rich, deep and sweet with heady alcohol, malty, caramel smell. Beautiful dark caramel color. Strong and sweet taste - definitely a sipper.

Poured into a pint glass. Pours a rich copper, with some orange tint. Nose gives you a lot of alcohol. Rich, molasses/caramel. Full flavored, with a strong finish. Interesting beer.

The aroma is complex and intriguing with scotch and barrel notes, the aroma character is excellent but could be a bit more vivid overall. The only head that lingers is a tan collar around the edges over the dark mahogany hued body. Flavors are earthy in a wet peaty manor, very scotch like, with some light smokey notes and wet wood contrasting sweet caramel malts. A very tasty beer i love to sip on, but i really think a 13% version would be spot on ;)

Aroma is super fruity right away. Some pineapple/coconut smells. Not what I was expecting. Pour is deep red with a head that fades quick. Fruity flavor is in there as well. Pineapples and strawberries. Some sweet cherry in there too. Palate kind of burns and is pretty slick. Aftertaste is cherries. This isn’t bad, just not the best I’ve had in this style.

I enjoyed this fine ale outside at a sporting event in a plastic cup. Despite the lack of quality glassware, the nose showed beautifully with deep scotch/bourbon aromas. Sweet, earthy, oaky and delicious!

Bottled: difficult to read with new wax. 06/2011? A: dark brown with a transient finger of toast foam falls to a scatteredsheet of the same. Where able, excellent clarity. Spotty lace. (4) S: caramel, oat, leather, toffee. Hints of raisin. (4.5) T: sweet with tones of English yeast and subtle clove and molasses. Really great tasting scotch ale. (4.5) M: full and creamy with just a hare too much carb. Semi dry finish. (4) O: one of the best of the style I’ve had. Yummy. (4.5)

Rusty brown with small brown head. Aroma is interesting with bourbon, wood, caramel, cocoa, all kind of roasted. Full body, some alcohol moderately prominent. Flavor is pretty boozy, caramel, malt, a slightly sweet and dried fruit background. Complex. Borderline difficult to drink although ends up on the right side of the border. Ended up appreciating more than enjoying it.

Bottled from Cracked kettle Hazy dark amber. Small tan head. Vinous oak in the aroma. Soft and smooth. Sweet oaky flavour; cedar. Vinous.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Goose Island pint glass. The color is a deep maroon with about finger and a half of foamy brownish head. The smell is malty with some nice bready aroma and an interesting caramel aroma. Things seem to be well balanced even here in the nose. The taste is sweet malts and some bourbon barrel overtones. Some oak flavor is there throughout the flavor. Some nice bitterness that goes back into a sweet malt flavor. The feel of this beer is bold and complex with plenty of flavor to dwell over. Bitterness it countered by some sweet malt and things seem to battle back and forth but always seems to even things out toward the end.

UPDATED: MAR 9, 2014 La description faite par Founders ne pourrait pas être plus exacte. D’ici à 2 ou 3 ans de maturation, j’ai l’impression que la perfection sera atteinte.
