Such a fantastic sipper. Not too sure why it comes out in November, as it would be good to sip by a midnight bonfire for sure. Take the Dirty Bastard and add a little vanilla and bourbon notes, some warm & fuzzy and this is what you get.

Big time barrel ager here. Clear brown in a with a small head. Nose is sherry like aged notes and vanilla. Sweet and a touch sticky which works for a big slow sipper like this. The barrel character is really dominant here but it’s well put together overall. Honestly, this stuff is tasty but I’d rather have something a bit more beery.

Bottle - pours deep red (almost black) with a tan head. Has a smooth chocolate flavor to it with a definite bourbon presence. A good on to sip.

Bourbon you say!! Bourbon on the nose, big blast in the first few sips and then it becomes a beer of beauty! I’m certainly not going to pound these, but once in a short while, this is certainly a brew to turn to!

Strongly malty in aroma in taste, with hints of caramel, cherry, vanilla, and woodiness. Smooth but full bodied, strong but not overly heavy. Not a favorite style, but not bad at all.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin light tan head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, wood, and whiskey. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of bourbon as well as medium notes of caramel and wood, and a slightly burnt edge.

Aroma- oak, cinnamon, other spices, whiskey, big bready malts
Appearance- deep dark oak brown, borderline mahogany, thin white head, nice alcohol coating
Taste- mild spices, cinnamon, oak, bourbon, vanilla, super smooth, actually incredibly smooth
Palate- low carbonation, mouthcoatingly awesome
Overall- Founders does it again. Dirty Bastard, their scotch ale, is an incredible brew as is. When aged on bourbon, this beer manifests into a real smooth monster. Great frickin brew!

UPDATED: DEC 18, 2011 Aroma of molasses and whiskey. Pours a brown/dark red looking color. Very little head - tan colored. Heavy raisin, whiskey, oak, and some vanilla flavors..I can taste the alcohol in this beer on the finish and it comes through strong. Not getting much fruit flavors of any kind. Small amount of carbonation. Overall a great beer and I would get this again.

12 oz. bottle from A Southern Season, Chapel Hill, NC.
Ar: Complex aroma with dominant notes of pit fruit, cherries, slight smokiness, and vanilla.
Ap: Pours a deep brown-red, a beautiful ruby hue when held to the light. Small manila head leaves great lace.
T: Sweet, complex flavors going on here. Lots of date, dried black fig, and a bit of cherry. Booze on the finish brings to mind Irish whiskey. A touch of toffee and chocolate on the finish as well.
P: Thick, creamy body with pretty mild carbonation.
O: I had been wanting to try this for some time, and it certainly doesn’t disappoint. Big, burly, maybe a bit cloying in its richness but damned good nonetheless.
