3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle. Poured a hazy reddish amber color with a small white head. The smell is bourbon and cola. The taste follows suit with mellowed bourbon and sweet cola flavors. Iím not really a scotch ale guy, but it you can hide 10%abv in something this well, then Iím onboard the down bound train...

Holy crap, this is tasty. If you the regular old Dirty Bastard, then you will love this. It is like regular bastard with a pile of comlex oakiness, vanilla, bourbon... Too much to explain. Each sip is different and complex. This stuff is amazing!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Must have poured it a bit too vigorously, lots of particulate matter floating about in a murky red suspension. The barest hint of a head, even after the apparently too vigorous pour. The miasma, in a good way, from this backwoods swamp is sweet, earthy, and all Scotland. Not Islay-peaty but mainland. The flavor is more Kentucky than Scotland. Bourbon sweetness (donít think of Scotch as sweet), woody-vanilla fun-times. A mouth-full, swish, swish, coat the teeth, and linger.

2009 vintage bottle thanks to my son, Keith (fata2683) poured into a tulip glass. Reddish dark brown body with thick tan head. Every sip brought a new experience to my taste buds. So many flavors; semi-sweet chocolate covered cherries, caramel, brown sugar, roasted coffee beans, and more. Absolutely delicious. Need more of this.

Bottle. 12 oz. Split with James, Dallas, and Tony. Pours a hazy brown with a creamy beige head. Aroma of toffee, caramel, sweet malts, brown sugar, scotch, pepper, and cream. Medium bodied with a rich, warm palate. Nice boozy finish. Excellent scotch ale.

UPDATED: NOV 29, 2014 Bottle split with Dallas, Pat, and Big Tony. Pours a hazy ruby amber body with slight off white lacing. Aroma is maple, light alcohol, sweet nuts and malt. Mouthfeel is amazingly creamy - tastes like drinking caramel down a wooden luge. Sweet maple and molasses on the palate. Great Scotch.

Had with the guys via Jamesís generosity. Pour is clear medium amber. Little head and minor lacing. Aroma is whisky alcohol and wood. Flavor is smooth but strong. Favor of wood chips and nuts.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz traded bottle from 2009. Dark brown pour with ruby highlights. Pretty lively but only a small off-white head and a little lacing. Aroma is sweeter malt and some molasses, plus some darker fruits like plums/prunes with just a hint of whisky. The taste is where the bourbon and vanilla really show up for me. Pretty nice and the 10+ ABV is well hidden until a little warming in the finish.

UPDATED: MAR 21, 2011 Poured from a bottle with a bottled on date of 10/27/09.
Pours a nice deep caramel color with a slight tan head, not too much carbonation it seems. Heads settles down fairly quickly.
Wow! Smell that bourbon barrel age right off the bat. Followed by caramel, malty aroma. Maybe itís just me but kind of smells like banana too.
Bite of the tongue on the first sip. Strong flavor from the barrel aging process following by a meduim/heavy malt taste. Slightly bitter aftertaste followed by alcohol. Very little hop flavor which would be correct for this style.
Similiar to Fouderís Dirty Bastard but with an added kick of the bourbon barrel!
Re-rate: cracked another 09 bottle on 3/25/11, pours a deep copper brown color with a 1 1/2 tan head that leaves nice lace as it settles. The aroma is really subdued from what it was originally with notes of vanilla, barrel, and dark fruit. The flavor is much more mellow as well. Caramel, raisin, with a nice bourbon touch. Still awesome!

Thanks to savvy1982 for the share. Pours a dark red with almost no head. The aroma is quite malty with bourbon, oak, butterscotch, plums, figs, coconut there as well. The flavor has a nice oaky bite and a long sweet finish. Really nice. 10%... Wow, where did that go?
