Big and delicious for your ’perty mouth. Expect lovely, warm smells of single malt scotch, oaky bourbon barrels, smoke, sweet caramel and roasted malts. A bit of earthy spice and a scintilla of dark cherries. It’s a kick-back sipper made to excite the palate.

12 oz bottle from fear025, thanks man. Clear deep amber brown with a small, dense head. Aroma of toffee, bourbon, oak, dark fruit and smoke. Flavor is smooth sweet caramel malt with hints of smoke, bourbon and alcohol. Medium to full body with mild carbonation and a long, smooth, malty finish. So glad I got to try this, now I need more. Lots of dark malt flavor with mild smoke and great barrel character and not overly sweet. Great beer.

Bottle, thanks to tkrjukoff. Amber/brown beer with a beige head. Oaky aroma, nicely balanced with toffe, vinous and weetish notes. Oaky malty flavor, woody, sweetish, nutty, a bit vinous, some alcohol. Lovely strong beer that really is smooth and well balanced.

Tasted on 7/6/11 from a 12oz bottle purchased at Lush West Town, this is the 2010 version, but I can’t find a bottle date. Pours a clear, dark amber with a bright red tint and a thick tan head that slowly settles down into a thin layer of even lace, leaving thick residue along the inside of the glass. The nose is strong with vanilla, cinnamon, and oaky bourbon, along with a light cherry undertone with a ton of caramel maltiness as well. This beer smells almost exactly like a manhattan cocktail. The flavor is much the same with the sweeter malt up front, moving to the very oaky vanilla and cinnamon bourbon, a hint of cherry, and a bit of burnt caramel bitterness. The body is full with light carbonation and a long vanilla bourbon, caramel malt, and lightly burnt bitter finish.

12oz bottle @Local Option Chicago. I could tell within about half a glass of this that it’s definetly more than 10% alc after sitting for a few months...this got me tipsy in a single bottle. Appearance is muddy brown with no head to speak of. Aroma is Bourbon, vanilla, brown sugar, earthy hops. Taste is vanilla, dried berries, warming alcohol, bourbon, a hint of chocolate and a slightly spicy finish. Full bodied with almost no carbonation, very smooth with a not quite dry finish. Overall this is one of my top 10 barrel aged beers ever; this has everything I could want in a malt centric ale.

Sweet caramel on the nose with hints of citrus and vanilla. Pours a light brown with no head. Nicely balanced and not a sugar bomb thank goodness. Caramel malts with a great spiciness and some earthy notes with vanilla and oak. Pretty good.
