Pours red amber hue with a off white head. Nose and taste of bourbon, toffee, vanilla, caramel, and oak. The level of bourbon is perfect, enough to know its there... And not overpowering the rest of the beer. Body is big and silky. A great sipping beer.

Had this last year and remembered loving it. Poured into a snifter..
A: Oaky. Boozy. Molasis note. yes..... not bad but not very complex.
A: Pours decently thick especially watching the bubbles rise. Little head. Nice semi transparent brown color.
T: First thought is something like oh my god this is amazing. As the beer finishes the thought continues only more so. If ever a beer was a 10 in taste this is it. Molasses sweetness. Dates. Alcohol cuts through but is more warming and surprising that aggressive. Oaky. Boozy. Finish has a huge bit of malt which is crazy for a beer this strong. Goes down with almost a brandy-like warmth. Just insane. yeah there’s some carmel in there as well when the beer warms.
P: Feels smooth on the palate. Carbonation is on the money. Flavor development is also amazing. Goes through many different stages. As mentioned before the alcohol cuts though but not in a bad way, more to remind you that it’s there.
This beer is simply amazing. The tastes is complex, the palate is great. The weird thing is it doesn’t smell that great. Oak and boozy are really the big smell notes. But this one hits where it counts: a must try. (How can it be an overall 20 when the smell is a 7? IDK the sum of the parts is less than the whole?)

I had this at Global Brew. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Taste bourbon, smokey, a touch of sweetness. I thought this was so so. I would skip this down the road.

Aroma is bourbon, malt, and some carmel. Pours a copperish brown with little or no head. Taste is bourbon and malts with very little carbonation. There is a little warmth that makes for a smooth drink.

Aromas of oak, bourbon, and vanilla, maybe some cherries. Dark brown with slight tan head. Tastes oakey in a good way, very smooth. Wow, this is a treat.

Tap sample at source 09/2013 and bottle 11/2013. Sweet stuff, Werther’s Echte meets coupe brésilienne, old bubble gum hops, stale vintage ale - and yet this is enjoyable and none too heavy. Vegetable, leafy, ashen, smoky hints. All poured next and on top of each other, compared to a few Belgian trappist yeasts this does not have much hypotactic depth, more like paratactic complexity.

aroma is powerful. sweet malt and some smoky scotch aromas as soon as i pour this bottle. appearance is clean & pretty, almost a ruby bronze. Taste follows the sweet scotchy aromas. sweeter than i recall prior tastes. maybe a tinge of alcohol heat on the finish but otherwise very well hidden. palate is lighter than you might expect from such a complex brew but not offensive or disappointing. overall outstanding. I enjoy the hunt more than the actual consumption - but that happens with these type beers (the ones that trend on social media when released). Also - this is a style i don’t often drink, so it is refreshingly different to try a malty beer when i tend to pick the hoppy option.

UPDATED: NOV 29, 2013 An incredibly complex beer. Aromas of rich woods, caramel and autumn spices. Rich caramel is most present, followed by an infinite array of other flavors. Oak, nutmeg, cider, mixed grains, dark fruits, hints of chocolate, bourbon... The list goes on. It all blends perfectly into a smooth, complex and delicious brew.

10/15/2011. From bottle. Pours deep amber to copper color with a tan head. Aromas of bourbon mostly but with malt, caramel and hints of smoke showing through. Near perfect balance and very complex. Spicy flavors with bourbon, caramel and hops. Definitely a keeper.
