3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
A sweet, boozy night-cap of the kind I find hard to resist, even though this tests my sugar tolerance. Bottle-brown with thick head. The aroma has strong molasses, turpentine, burnt brown sugars, ginger and spice. Slick mouthfeel. Very sweet and treacly on the tongue with some heat in the swallow. Burnt malts and prominent alcohol with a lingering herbal finish that I’m not sure I like. Ultimately a bit too sweet and one-dimensional to rate it any higher. (355ml bottle from Leura Cellars)

One year old poured into a snifter. Looks like a typical scotch ale, but that is the end of it. Aromas of sweet toasted malt and sugars with bourbon on it immediately after. Such a pleasure to taste. The sweetness and sticky texture are rounded out well by the boozy finish. Overall I am pretty much in love with this beer; complex malts and bourbon... what’s not to love? Thank you Founders for this gift of a brew!

Cor marrom escura com espuma marrom com tons amarelados de baixa/média formação e baixa persistência; sem lacing;
Aroma de licor de frutas vermelhas, madeira e tons de uísque bourbon;
Sabor de início maltado e licoroso de cereja que evolui para um meio com tons de uísque e um final amadeirado e alcoólico de uísque bourbon que aquece a boca; final extremamente semelhante a uísque bourbon;
Corpo médio e licoroso de baixa carbonatação.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Muddy brown pour with a very thin off white head. Toffee, woody, bourbon aromas. Taste is fairly similar with dominant bourbon, some vanilla, some toffee, a little boozy, warm finish. Great

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
My Bottom Line:
Vanilla bourbon flavors are molded into a lascivious mouthfeel heated up by alcohol heat and lingering wood.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy head of foam decorates the darkest ruby.
-The mouthfeel is rich, yes, but the supple carbonation makes it become an elegant dessert.
-The flavor profile is rather linear. Malts aren’t as deep as I like in this style (overtaken by the barrel treatment, probably?)
-Licorice-like sugared fruitiness appears after a while.

Poured from a bottle from 2012, so it has about 2 years of age on it. Strong aroma of bourbon and maple syrup. Rich, clear, and inviting caramel color with little to no head. Maple syrup qualities are prominent in the flavor as well. Bourbon and booziness is also there. These flavors overwhelm pretty much everything else, probably because of the age on the bottle. I really like it but think I prefer it a bit fresher.

Ingen öl i min smak...

Tap at brewfest. Brown pour with off white head. Smells of bourbon and malts. Great bourbon notes: vanilla, wood, caramel. Warms you a up a little bit
