A sweet, boozy night-cap of the kind I find hard to resist, even though this tests my sugar tolerance. Bottle-brown with thick head. The aroma has strong molasses, turpentine, burnt brown sugars, ginger and spice. Slick mouthfeel. Very sweet and treacly on the tongue with some heat in the swallow. Burnt malts and prominent alcohol with a lingering herbal finish that Iím not sure I like. Ultimately a bit too sweet and one-dimensional to rate it any higher. (355ml bottle from Leura Cellars)

Bottle from Tim, thanks man! Bottle date on the neck says 09/26/2014. Appearance is maroon black with a nice layer of head that has good retention. Aroma is oak, pete, vanilla, and brown sugar. Tast is oak, smoke, bourbon, vanilla, velvet mouthfeel, with a caramel smokey finish. Great beer, love the smoke and the barrel treatment!

Dark brown, with a head that is almost yellow while it lasts, which isnít long. Nice and thick mouthfeel with soft carbonation. The barrels have added a very pronounced whisky nose, and itís a good one, with wood, vanilla and a bit of smokiness. Dried fruit too, which carries into the taste, alongside lots of deep malt, syrup and some smoky spice. Finish is great - lingering pepper and tar. Best scotch ale Iíve had.

355ml bottle. Deep mahogany brown, with a thin beige head. Spicy, complex, oaky aroma, vanilla, caramel, dried fruit, Bourbon, hops, light smoke, cinnamon, earth, apricot, leather. Semi-sweet, full bodied, mid to high bitterness, creamy CO2. Complex, matured, spicy taste, caramel, toffee, oak, vanilla, apricot, smoke, earth, tannins, hops. Long, rich, balanced finish, with ever evolving flavours. Extremely well balanced, although maybe a tiny bit sweet. (2015-07-22)

(From tap @ basementbeerbar) A very dark scotch ale -appears almost black in the glas with a small off white head. The nose has raisins, sirup some spice and vanilla. The taste is full with lots of caramel, wood, spice and especially bourbony notes. Like it lots. The mouthfeel is creamy with soft carbonation. The finish is long with primarily the bourbon notes hanging on.
