muddy brown,
rich woody malt aroma,
rich sweet whiskey covers up most everything else, still a bit of the rich malt left to fight through, woody bitterness in the finish,

CaptainCougar (4601), Rockville, Maryland, USA Nov 24, 2007 Bottle: Pours a transparent dark copper mahogany with a spotty-lacing light tan head. Aroma of big oaky bourbon with some vanilla and sweet dark caramel malts and a touch of smoky, salty peat. Body starts dense and sweet with a nice caramel maltiness and earthy peaty character along with bourbon oak and a touch of butterscotch toward a slightly drier warming finish. A pretty good barrel-aged Scotch ale. hopdog (4444), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 5, 2007 12oz bottle. Poured a deep reddish brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of oak, bourbon, vanilla, caramel, light smoke, and some dark fruits. Tastes of wood/oak, caramel, bourbon, some dark fruits, earthy, and vanilla. Definitely woody with some bourbon. Light to medium alcohol fnish. hopscotch (4386), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Dec 31, 2007 Bottle… This beer rocks!… Mostly clear, deep, dark, ruby ale with a small, creamy, tan head. Decent retention. The rich, decadent aroma is a blend of bourbon, white oak, decadent caramel and chocolate malts with a light waft of smoke and a drop of vanilla. Full-bodied with a slick, oily mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Moderate malt sweetness is well-balanced by sufficient alcohol and hop bitterness. Lots of boozy bourbon with undertones of vanilla, chocolate and light, tangy acidity. Lengthy, moderately bitter and boozy finish. Very warming! Kudos to kmweaver for shipping this beer to me!
