COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Big and delicious for your ’perty mouth. Expect lovely, warm smells of single malt scotch, oaky bourbon barrels, smoke, sweet caramel and roasted malts. A bit of earthy spice and a scintilla of dark cherries. It’s a kick-back sipper made to excite the palate.

Poured into large tulip. Small, non lasting head. The color is beautiful...very deep red, bright and clear. Aroma is of oak tones, earthiness, and wonderful bourbon. The flavor is amazing. No bitterness, a little underlying sweetness, great woody flavors, strong bourbon but not overpowering, maybe a hint of good scotch too. Clean on the palate with a lingering bit of alcohol and bourbon sweetness. Great stuff. I have to edit and upgrade here. This got even better as it warmed over the hour it took me to drink it. IMHO this is outstanding and it is officially a bummer that there was only one lonesome bottle on the store shelf.

These CBC ratings are basically a joke because I didn’t write any notes. In any event, CBC2013 on tap. I discovered I dislike Scotch Ale intensely. Hence the 1 for taste.

One of the best scotch ale I have ever had. Rich flavors of scotch and oak. A must try if you are fond of scotch ale.

Wow, wish I had more of this beer on hand but also pretty glad I gave my extras away so I could spread the love. Pours reddish brown with a finger of white head. Aromas are caramel, booze, peat, and just a tiny bit of wood. Flavors are boozy barrel, smoke and caramel and some wet forest floor-like notes. The palate is quite nice with limited carbonation so the thickness of this beer really comes through; it coats the tongue nicely and has a definite warmth. Overall this is a really good beer. It reminds me more of a Barleywine than a Scotch Ale though this is a barrel aged version of a Scotch ale and the only in the form I have tried. Regardless this is killer!

Sample from tap, CBC 2013. Hazy, dark, ruby colour with a small, creamy, tan head. Fruity aroma with whisky, vanilla, oak, rich caramel and chocolate malts. A light hint of smoke. Taste ís sweet. Full body with a slick, oily mouthfeel and a lively carbonation. Finishes bitter with sweet, vinous malt and a hint of alcohol. Very rich and full-bodied.

355 ml bottle from my secret santa. Thank you joeneugs. Pours amberish chestnut brown with a thin brownish beige head that quickly dissipates without leaving any trace worth mentioning. Smell is sweet and malty with biscuits, bourbon, charred wood, roasted nuts, vanilla fudge, alcohol, coconut, hay, caramel and hints of peat, sundried sugary fruits and pencil shavings. Taste is sweet, tiny bitter and malty with biscuits, caramel, fresh oak, vnilla fudge, cookie dough, coconut, bourbon, raisins, roasted nuts, charred wood, lemon zest and hints of resin, pine needles, peat and Islay whisky. Mouthfeel is rich, round, slightly boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet, bitter and malty with biscuits, hay, resinous wood, roasted coconut, vanilla fudge, bourbon, raisins, fresh oak and hints of peat. A great rich sipper…
