4.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Had this last year and remembered loving it. Poured into a snifter..
A: Oaky. Boozy. Molasis note. yes..... not bad but not very complex.
A: Pours decently thick especially watching the bubbles rise. Little head. Nice semi transparent brown color.
T: First thought is something like oh my god this is amazing. As the beer finishes the thought continues only more so. If ever a beer was a 10 in taste this is it. Molasses sweetness. Dates. Alcohol cuts through but is more warming and surprising that aggressive. Oaky. Boozy. Finish has a huge bit of malt which is crazy for a beer this strong. Goes down with almost a brandy-like warmth. Just insane. yeah there’s some carmel in there as well when the beer warms.
P: Feels smooth on the palate. Carbonation is on the money. Flavor development is also amazing. Goes through many different stages. As mentioned before the alcohol cuts though but not in a bad way, more to remind you that it’s there.
This beer is simply amazing. The tastes is complex, the palate is great. The weird thing is it doesn’t smell that great. Oak and boozy are really the big smell notes. But this one hits where it counts: a must try. (How can it be an overall 20 when the smell is a 7? IDK the sum of the parts is less than the whole?)

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
2012, 13, 14 on tap. 12 has very raisin aroma with toffee caramel backgtound. 13 is saffron, toffee, faint raisin and spice. 14 is cardemom, clove, saffron, toffee, hint of cherry and pear. 14 tastes of spicy oak, toffee, caramel. Tastes of mellowed oak, rich caramel, some clove. Tastes of very mellow caramel, hints of oak and spice. 12 & 14 have swirls of foam, 13 has none. Overall, very nice, aged 1.5-2.5 years are the best, aged past to 3 years is too late.

Bottle @SB. Deep brown and red color. Light brown foam, not long lasting. A very nice aroma, touch of burned sugar, vanilla. Taste is good, medium sweet and nice small bitterness. Old fruits. Really nice beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
35,5cl bottle (2014) probably from Vinmonopolet Vika, Oslo. Pours close to clear copper, but with some sediments, and a modest off-white head. Aroma of bourbon, oak and vanilla, quite massive at first. Sweet dried fruits, caramel, mild spices and some earthy and roasty notes. Massive, complex and very sweet. Certainly a sipper. A bit to sweet and heavy for my taste, but also a quite delicious winter warmer. Hmmm, maybe I’ll try it again next winter.

4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Tap. 2012, 2013 and 2014. 2012 was a nice body but just too raisiny for me. 2013 was the best, with a perfect balance of sweet fruit, malt, scotch notes, mild hopping. 2014 was second best and good; rich malts balanced between rich caramel and a sharp burnt wood quality.
