4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
2012 bottle. Pours dark, clear brown with ruby hints. Latte-colored head that dissipates pretty quickly. Big bourbon punch right up front, but quickly recedes and coalesces into the other elements: smoked peat, burnt toffee, bits of cherry and spice. Low carbonation, smooth mouthfeel. A little hot on the finish, but otherwise pretty great.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle to glass. Pours a deep nut brown color with a think off-white head. Aroma is magnificent with scotch, bourbon, vanilla, caramel, nutty. Flavor is right there with it, with sweet boozy oaky bourbony goodness. Medium creamy body with a lingering bourbon oak character. Alcohol is well hidden. Another Founder’s gem.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
12oz bottle. Murky reddish brown, not much head. Heavy oak and bourbon on the nose - really sweet vanilla and caramel come through. Big bourbon in the taste: oak and vanilla pod. Sweet caramel, biscuit, red fruits. Lingering bourbon and caramel. Big, boozy and great for the price (rare to find an import this good in Ireland at this price). In my mind this is a bit of a 1D bourbon fest, a tasty one nevertheless.

4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
330ml bottle from Drinkstore. Chesnut brown, big creamy off white head. Looks great. Wood, oak, bourbon, dark fruits - cherries and prunes, smoky peated notes and some liquorice in the aroma. Incredibly complex flavour - sweet cherry, warming alcohol notes, bourbon whiskey, sweet caramel, woody notes, toasted malt all in there. Light body, forward carbonation, finish is long and complex - lots of sweetness and warming alcohol. Really incredible.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Tasted from bottle. Pours a very dark brown with beige head that quickly dissipates leaving some good lacing. Great looking beer. Aroma is huge. Robust caramel and sweet notes mixed with bourbon. Some roasted earthy notes. Taste definitely does not disappoint. Starts off sweet with big caramel and toffee taste. Followed by bourbon whiskey tastes that blends so well with the sweet caramel taste. Just a hint of bitterness. Very well balanced and complex beer. Really hides the alcohol well. A lot of times I'm not a fan of bourbon barrel aged beers because I think the bourbon dominates the taste too much. Founders has done it incredibly well. Excellent beer.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
sweet woody aroma with caramel, smoke, maple and whisky in there as well..very dark brown liquid with dissipating head..taste ..wow..BIG beer my first impression is it tastes like marshmallow ambrosia salad if youre familiar.,vanilla, caramel, cream and plenty of unusual fruits (pineapple? coconut?)smoke and whiskey if youre not.,balanced by tingly hops and carbonation.yet slick, creamy and sticky also...very tasty and very unusual..fruity maple aftertaste lasts..overall I hate ’scotch ales ’ in general but the other flavors balancing this one makes it very satisfying
