Big and delicious for your íperty mouth. Expect lovely, warm smells of single malt scotch, oaky bourbon barrels, smoke, sweet caramel and roasted malts. A bit of earthy spice and a scintilla of dark cherries. Itís a kick-back sipper made to excite the palate.

Scotch ale is not my particular style, but I once home brewed an oak aged imperial version I never found anything close to commercially. This has gone above and beyond. Scotch on the nose with some chocolate fruity maltiness accompanied by whiffs of vanilla. A lot of bourbon barrel characteristics woven in to an oaky cherry scotch cocoa brown sugar flavor with a warm alcohol bittersweet finish. Well balanced in every way. A perfect late autumn/early winter ale.

Very dark, tight tan head. Fruitcake aroma - boozy, dark sugars, fruity, a little vanilla. Not quite as dense as the aroma suggests, woody, menacing ABV, chalky cocoa tones, light vanilla, moderately acidic. Darkish stone fruit, dates, some leather. Medium heavy body. Warming. Finishes cakey at first, then goes very hoppy, finally an alcohol burn. Good on a nippy evening. On tap, Baby Proof.

Pours dark brown almost black with brown tint around the edges of the glass and a tan head. Roasted malt, sweet caramel, bourbon, vanilla, and oak aroma with some alcohol vapors. Dark roasted malt smokiness with sweet caramel malt and brown sugar start. Dark chocoate flavor follows with candied sugars. Nice bourbon booziness with oak barrel flavors and vanilla. Flavors finishes out a nice melded roastiness and bourbon vanilla booziness. One word: Incredible.

Backlog rating. 12oz bottle at CBC Clerkenwell, sourced at Utobeer and shared at Gunnar tasting. It pours a brown color with a large tan head. Aroma is quite sweet and lightly roasty with notes of caramel, vanilla, burnt wood, bourbon, tobacco. Taste is again on the sweet side with some roasted matls, wood notes and alcohol to provide bitterness. More notes of toasted bread with marmalade, caramel, vanilla and leather. Alcohol presence is not overwhelming. Medium to full bodied with good carbonation and silky mouthfeel. Overall, I thought this was great, but I admit a skew to BBA beers

bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear brown color, 1" tan head, sheets of lace. Aroma of malt, cherry wood, and bourbon. Taste is full-bodied malt that adds earthy dark cherry and charred barrel with alcohol in the palate, turning darkly sweet in a long, long finish. A huge brew in which the alcohol doesnít overwhelm, with flavors that compliment each other achieving a perfect balance. Mighty fine.

6oz pour at Yards. Diabetes, sugar up the wahoo! Poued dark cocoa brown with a foamy beige head. Boozy brown sugar bourbon nose with sweet cake like vanilla and chocolate. Wonderful carmel, oak flavors with vanilla and coconut abounding, with lots of brown sugar boubon and sweet chocolaty oak. Outstanding.

Way too strong. Know I'm in the minority but this thing is a hot mess. Bourbon barrel dominates instead if complimenting already fine beer. Gonna let the remaining 2 from the 4 pack sit for a year or so and revisit ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a two finger, off-white head that slowly fades to a thin layer leaving some lace. Deep ruby color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Nice oak and bourbon nose. Flavor is similar with bourbon and oak, some malty sweetness. The high ABV is hidden. $3.50 for a 12oz bottle from Bertís Better Beers Hooksett, NH.
