4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz. bottle from A Southern Season, Chapel Hill, NC.
Ar: Complex aroma with dominant notes of pit fruit, cherries, slight smokiness, and vanilla.
Ap: Pours a deep brown-red, a beautiful ruby hue when held to the light. Small manila head leaves great lace.
T: Sweet, complex flavors going on here. Lots of date, dried black fig, and a bit of cherry. Booze on the finish brings to mind Irish whiskey. A touch of toffee and chocolate on the finish as well.
P: Thick, creamy body with pretty mild carbonation.
O: I had been wanting to try this for some time, and it certainly doesn’t disappoint. Big, burly, maybe a bit cloying in its richness but damned good nonetheless.

Holy fuck balls. This beer right here is something special. Smells very strongly of caramel with a hint of bourbon. Not a very strong head. Very full body with many complex aromas of marshmellow and caramel. An absolute treat for anyone.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
BOTTLE 12 OZ. Clear dark ruby, beige head. The aroma is full-on, caramel and dried fruit, vanilla and toasted coconut, creamy milk chocolate and toffee sweetness - all sprinkled with a little bourbon. The taste is just as big - caramel (not overly sweet or sticky), balanced by some dark bread and alcohol spice right from the start. The bourbon is there, but not too in your face. Smooth velvety finish with notes of chocolate liqueur and alcohol infused candies. Some spicy hops too. A kick-back sipper indeed. Excellent.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Dark red color with tan head. Aroma has really nice mellow bourbon, butterscotch, caramel, toffee and raisins. Taste starts slightly sweet and nutty with dark malts and raisins. In the middletaste you start to get the bourbon, caramel and fudge. Finishes with butterscotch and caramel and lingers on the aftertaste. Medium body and carbonation. Really good barrel aging on this one. Lots of fudge and caramel. Excellent overall.

355 ml bottle from BeerLovers Vienna, bottled 09/24/15
Dark copper body, with a small, fluffy, moderately lacing, beige head.
Aroma of bourbon, chocolate, caramel, cocoa, dried fruits, barrel, some alcohol.
Tastes of dried fruits, dark berries, cocoa, bourbon, wood, black tea, chocolate, liquorice, booze.
Medium to full, creamy mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes warm, medium boozy, a bit dry, medium sweet, a bit roasty, astringent, wooden, with bitter chocolate, some fruits, some bourbon.
Really tasty. Quite boozy, but not too overpowering, pleasantly warm. Very well integrated bourbon notes, not too dominant, adding another smooth layer. Overall a lovely, complex sipper and also a unique style example for those like me, who aren’t the biggest Scotch Ale fans normally.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
0,355l bottle at home. Bottled 09/24/2015. ABV 11.6%. dark brown / redish color, small off-white / orange head. smells of dried fruits, raisins, plums, marzipan, spices, alcohol, some wood. good smell, rather alcoholic though. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes alcoholic, some wood, marzipan, light coconut, light dried fruits, raisins, spices. finishes rather alcoholic with notes of raisins, spices and coconut. overall good one with nice coconut notes but very boozy. Probably 2 years in the cellar would cut down the alcohol (if no oxidation notes creep in).

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Keg pour 2014 vintage at Cask and Vine. Aroma is dark fruit, apple, boozy/oak. Appearance is dark brown with nice sparkle, no head but small off-white ring with trace lacing. Taste is moderately sweet caramel, dark fruits, oak/booze. Palate is medium bodied with creamy smooth texture, soft carbonation with sweet caramel/booze finish. Mild warming feeling. Overall, this is one smooth delight. Barrel aging is done to perfection with complements to the beer without dominating. Nice sipper.

The beer I rate other beers. Superb strong vanilla and sugar sweetness cuts the high abv. Complexity from bourbon barrels and whisky make this a fine product that is many imitated but never replicated

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Boozy aroma. Great copper color with small beige head. Not quite as sweet as Dirty Bastard. Nutty and caramel tastes. You can definitely tell this is a boozy beer. Great stuff!
