3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 pintsize (1042) - Austin, USA - OCT 19, 2008
10-19-08 bottle
Nice medium amber pour with a nice little off white ivory colored head. Smell is fruity and light alcohol and perhaps a few figs in there too. Flavor is a touch alcohol hefty but isn’t bad overall. Drinkable but just not too bold. Nice mouthfeel - a little thick and creamy almost. Overall, okay.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 MadIndian (1901) - Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 9, 2012
Bottle from SJ. I think it might be past its prime date and not kept in proper storage.
First off, I love founders. I am going to blame this bad beer on in proper storage. It was just not that good. It was like a synthetic fruit chemical mixed in with alcohol.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 kappldav123 (3296) - Markkleeberg, GERMANY - JUL 23, 2011
Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass brownish, small head. Dry-malty aroma. Starts washy-malty, gets stronger and stronger, a bit alcoholic-soapy, more and more burning. Warming finish, less malty, burning alcoholic. Not my favourite Founders beer!
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 madvike (1477) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 29, 2011
Bottle shared by BenC...thanks Ben! - Pours ruby brown with a small tan head. Hot rubbing alcohol nose, plums, sweet malt, yeast, and white grape. Taste is nail polich, smooth green Jolly Rancher, and a lactic, sour finish. Weird--wonder if this one went bad. Fairly thin, with decent carbonation, but too sharply hot for my taste.
4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 GT2 (3970) - Washington DC, USA - MAY 23, 2010
355mL courtesy of FlandersNed. Pours a hazy deep strawberry with a thin tan head that has excellent retention and a scant lacing. Aroma is sour ale! Lots of lactic acid, red wine, red grapes, red wine vinegar, sherry, cherry liquor, black cherries. Taste is rich, caramel, toffee, intense sour black cherries. Coating, creamy mouthfeel. Really just completely excellent. Wow. Definitely a sipping beer. One to savor.

Bottle from Dickinsonbeer, thanks! 9.8% says the label. Amber color. Cloudy. Pear drups and alcohol in the aroma. Soft citric raspberry flavor. Alcoholic and slightly tart. Has matured well.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Rciesla (5498) - Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA - FEB 26, 2009
Bottle. Pours an amber gold body with an off white head. A fruity sweet aromatic character with some bananas, cherry and apples. Alcohol latent fruits, and a light spices. this is a pretty poor offering for a quad and for founders.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 lb4lb (2026) - Austin, Texas, USA - OCT 26, 2008
Bottle in trade from jsquire. Thanks man!
Pours a rich dark amber to maroon with lasting big beige head. Smell is sweet, light raisin and candi sugar. Taste is fairly bland, lightly bitter with subtle dark sweet raisin flavor and belgian yeast and some alcohol flavor. Medium to slightly syrupy body with normal carbonation. Ok, but not great.

12oz bonus bottle off my wants list from kp. Thanks Keith! Bottle says 9.8%: I guess it varies year to year. Cloudy amber color. Butter caramels and nutty aroma with alcohol emphasis. Leans sweet. Nicely drinkable. 3.8-3.9
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 frankenkitty (1958) - Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA - OCT 1, 2008
Dense-bodied appearance, sepia/amber under short yet holding cream-colored head. Aroma exhibits a tart, fruity quality along with a wealth of alcohol like a cherry liqueur or (sadly) NyQuil. Additional sweet toffee notes behind. Heavily potent flavor with a taste that mimmicks the aroma, tart pitted fruit with a touch of caramel. A tad flat yet silky bodied. OK.
Bottle courtesy of Cornfield. Thank you, sir.
