Blushing Monk is brewed with a ridiculous amount of raspberries and with a Belgian yeast strain that keeps our head cellar operator from sleeping for a week. It pours a stunning deep berry red and, at 9.2% ABV, has a surprising kick. The perfect dessert beer, it can be enjoyed on its own or paired with fresh cheeses, fruit, cakes and more.

First released in July 2011, rereleased in 2015.

Ruby body with a quarter inch of lavender head. Raspberry jam, pie dominate the aroma. Sweet but not cloying. Medium bodied with appropriate carbonation. A showcase for sweet raspberries. Suitable for a desert beer. Best shared.

Very unique red color. Little head and lacing. Thinner consistency. Combination of sweet fruity raspberry and bitter Belgium yeast. Very good sipping beer that sits lightly on the tongue. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap@ viisi penniä. Cherry red colored. Raspberry lemonade (muumi limu), sweetness, cherry notes. Flavor has cherry candies, raspberries, sweetness. Juicy, refreshing, but overly sweet. Abv hidden.

Tap@5p. Dark red cherry flavour. Red berry sweet fruity malty nose. Raspberries, strawberries, both quite ripely, some cherry too. Vanilla. Full bodied, salt berry, red berry, some licorice in finish. Robust, well flavoured. Probably super nice if youre into krieks, berry beers. Like a nice imperial one of them.

750 ml bottle, as Founders Blushing Monk 2015, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9.2%. Beautiful clear red colour, moderate pinkish-white head. Lovely and intense aroma of ripe raspberries and raspberry candy. Sweet flavour (too sweet for some, I’m sure - but not for me), raspberries and raspberry candy galore, some tart hints and very moderate bittering hops the finish. The alcohol is well hidden, dangerously drinkable. A fine dessert beer. I was about to write "the big bottle is for sharing", but then I noticed it was empty - and I’m here alone. Oh well ....

Pours a dark ruby red body, head is a pale pink and 1/8th of an inch. Head retention was bad and so was lacing. Smells like sweet tart raspberries, slight medicinal alcohol aroma. No hops present, mostly just sugar and fruit. Taste is big on sweet, slightly tart raspberries. Syrupy sweet malt is also present, doing a good job of covering up the 9 percent abv. Hops weren’t present, and didn’t really get much Belgian yeast. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, carbonation levels are average for a Belgian style beer. Head died immediately, which was a big detractor. Overall I was disappointed with this beer, just too sweet to really enjoy it. There wasn’t much head presence either which was unfortunate. Like the style, Love the brewery but this beer was too one noted.

Aromas of raspberries, and a touch of booze. Body is a slightly murky light garnet color with a thin fizzy slightly pinkish cap. Flavor is mostly raspberries, sweet with a nice tartness on the finish. Overall a nice fruit beer.

From the bottle. Dark pinkish red body. Sweet fruity aroma. Lots of raspberry taste, but cut with a good amount of sweetness. Similar to New Glarus fruit beers, just sweeter.
