Blushing Monk is brewed with a ridiculous amount of raspberries and with a Belgian yeast strain that keeps our head cellar operator from sleeping for a week. It pours a stunning deep berry red and, at 9.2% ABV, has a surprising kick. The perfect dessert beer, it can be enjoyed on its own or paired with fresh cheeses, fruit, cakes and more.

First released in July 2011, rereleased in 2015.

2015 vintage. Pours beige ruby red with little head. Aroma is pungent cherries, black berries, cherry coffee syrup in a good way. Taste is sticky strong thick cherry juice and cherry skins, alcohol backbone, nice sweetness. This is an interesting beer that I surprising really like despite the cherry cough syrup notes. This is what I always wished sherry would taste like.

Pours dark red with a large pink head. Smells of raspberries and only raspberries. Taste is sweet and fruity. Medium-bodied with a smooth texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Founders 2015 Blushing Monk finishes with a slight raspberry tartness.

On tap at Macgregor’s. It poured a ruby color with no head. The aroma was of raspberries, vanilla and light floral notes. The taste was of mixed berries with some subtle sweetness, a hint of chocolate and a lightly tart raspberry finish. It had a medium body and soft carbonation.

Beautiful clear red with light pinkish white head. Raspberries shine. Alcohol presence is noticeable. Little syrupy. Concentrated. Rich raspberry and cherry. Enjoyable but I wish there was room for more than just the fruit. However, I think it is a masterful brew.
