adrian910ss (1395), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 25, 2007 22 oz bomber. Pours a purpleish red color with a medium pink head. Nice aroma of fresh raspberries and grape juice. Taste is full of fresh raspberries with a hint of grape juice. Tart finish with a slight alcoholic flavor. Very nice, yet overpriced. Miver (551), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 24, 2007 Bottle from Capone’s and shared with Axilla. Great red color with soda like fizzy head that quickly went away. Raspberries came in strong and perfectly tart. It’s amazing this one can hide the alcohol so well. The price tag was high, but this is one I’m very glad I tried and wouldn’t hesitate to buy it again. Super. LearninBeer (194), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA Aug 24, 2007 The aroma is sweet almost like a soda pop. The appearance is dark red like a watery merlot or grape juice. The head is fizzy, purple/pink in color, fully diminishing. The body is clear. The initial flavor is moderate sweet, the finish about the same. The body is light, the texture watery, the carbonation a light fizzy. Is this really beer? This goes down very easy and would be very good with anything that was made with or marinated in a raspberry vingenerette. johnadam2002 (529), Hainesport, New Jersey, USA Aug 24, 2007 Poured ruby red with a fluffy pinkish head. Strong aroma of raspberries. Tons of raspberry flavor. This can’t be over 12%. Well made! DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 23, 2007 Draft at Capone’s. Ruby magentaish pour with smallish light pink head that faded away quickly. The aroma was great, a very intense freshly picked raspberry aroma that was natural and not at all Jolly Rancherish. The palate was pretty hefty, somewhat sticky, with tons of raspberry flavor, plus a dollop of earthy yeasty hints. This one stayed pretty tart throughout, seeming to get a little sweeter toward the finish, definitelt sweeter than Sly Fox Black Raspberry. I’d really love to side-by-side this with NG Tart and the Sly Fox Black Raspberry. This one was outstanding. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 23, 2007 On draft @ Capones. Pours red with a small pink head. Aroma of raspberries and wheat. The flavor is sweet, raspberries, exceptionally smooth, with a moderate amount of carbonation. Good brew. egajdzis (3602), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 23, 2007 [Draft @ Capone’s] Poured a murky red brown color with no head, (nice head and lacing when poured from the bottle). Aroma of fresh raspberries, a bit of doughy yeast, and candy sugar. Taste of sweet raspberries, with vanilla, nuts, toffee, dry tannins (from the raspberry skins), and an alcohol burn on the way down. This is awfully similar to Rübæus, with just the minimal alcohol burn in the stomach. MrBendo (1039), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Aug 22, 2007 On tap at Capone’s. Ruby reed color. Tastes of fresh and tart raspberries. Tangy and almost sour, leaves a citrus/lemon sense. I was working with a cold, so I really didn’t have a good palate, but I really couldn’t get past the raspberries to taste any grains or wheat. Not that that’s all bad. Definitely approached NG Raspberry Tart. Maybe even surpassed it. Sure couldn’t taste the high alcohol. But does it need to be three times the price?
