aarossell (151), Grandville, Michigan, USA Jul 7, 2007 Being a mead-maker and one very interested in different meads I was anxious to try this one. I had it the first week it was available, but it just wasn’t much. Very little flavor--but for what was present it was okay. Light honey, ...light oak. Nothing much else. Caramel? Yes. Cloudy (should bee less so) Smooth, creamy, murky dark rusty orange / red. Should have been better.
pantanap (749), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 25, 2007 draft at founder’s anniversary party....appearance: mediuim brown with no existence of any head.....aroma: sweet honey and very sugary....taste: more of the same. sweet honey with more carbonation than i would expect, especially for the mead style. i concur with masonjer of this beer being very one-dimensional. given the choice, i would probably not order this again but nice to try anyway. masonjer (434), Lansing, Michigan, USA Jun 14, 2007 haven´t tried many braggots before, so I don´t have much to go from. Tried this at the brewery. Smelled sweet, tasted of honey, sugar, slightly floral. A bit one dimensional and overly sweet. Not bad though. badnewsbeers (982), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA May 18, 2007 dark amber pour with no head..aroma of light honey, strawberry, and sugar...flavor of a tame mead (basic honey sugars)..a touch of berry fruit..the aftertaste of this beer is equal to the smell of a first aid kit Tmoney99 (3540), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA May 17, 2007 Draft at brewpub. Poured clear reddish copper color with minimal off-white fizzy head that mostly diminished with fair lacing. Heavy dark honey and spicy aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture. Heavy spicy sweet flavor with a rich sweet finish of moderate duration with a small alcohol burn as it warmed. Pleasing Devil Dancer and honey combo to give a barleywine flavor.
