Commercial Description:
You’ve got to love coffee to truly appreciate this phenomenal brew. Brewed with an abundance of flaked oats, bitter and sweetened imported chocolates, Sumatra and Kona coffee. We’re actually not sure if this is some type of coffee cake or a beer. Either way you can drink this ale with a fork. Breakfast Stout has an intense fresh roasted coffee nose toped with a cinnamon colored frothy head that seems to never fade and makes you wish breakfast could last forever.

Purchased at Winslow’s Tavern, Greenville, NC Small head. Smelled perfect - coffee and chocolate even wife could smell. Very rich and flavorful.

Bottle. Pours very dark with a small beige head. Aroma and flavor is coffee, coffee, coffee. I love it when stouts taste like coffee cuz of the malt, but not so much when it’s because, well, half the brew is coffee. Some chocolate, hoppy, vanilla notes also lurk in there, but this is like a fifty/fifty coffee/beer proposition. Tasty, but kinda cheating. Rates high on flavor/aroma, low on the overall score (for a good beer), since it doesn’t seem quite legit.

Massive rich stale coffee aroma. Very soft palate Massive coffee retronasals. This is basically more coffee than beer. However, it’s pretty tasty, although the idea is rather hackneyed, and this isn’t a good example compared to the best, trading slickness in the palate for the fullness of BGB, say. Big tingly finish.

Pours a perfect pitch black. Dark brown head sits atop. The aroma is a nice blend of oats, dark chocolate, and coffee. The flavor is intense but the finish is smooth. Overall a wonderful beer.

Poured from a bottle black with a solid light brown head, which quickly dissipated but left fine lacing. The nose is chocolate, caramel, coffee, and a little vanilla. The palate is very smooth, beginning with light tinkling from the carbonation, rolling roundly over the tongue and finishing with a lasting dry coffee-bitterness. The chocolate becomes more prevalent as the beer warms. This is one of the best beers for a cold winter day, and is by far one of my favorite beers for sipping and savoring the flavor.

Dark, almost black. Has a light brown head, mostly lasting. Aroma is dark, oak, coffee, chocolate, roasted. Perhaps a faint note of smoke. Flavor is rather bitter for a stout. Dry. Faint medicine.

Bottle thanks to bman1113vr. Black pour with brown foamy head. Aroma is heavy roasted coffee, unsweet chocolate. Flavor is smoke, ash, coffee, bitter. Watery mouthfeel.
