beer was drank fairly fresh. just tons and tons of super bitter coffee. i think i will like this one with age. alcohol was very previlent and couldnt get anything but coffee. i can tell the quality this is going to drink in about a year so maybe it’ll get a higher rating after some of the coffee mellows out.

A: Pours an Obsidian black, darker than a moonless night. It pours with a huge thunderous head with tons of tiny bubbles that get foamy on top, like sea foam in the gulf on a warm September afternoon. The head dies down to a nice cap but some of the foaminess is left behind sticking to the top of my snifter.
S: Wonderful smelling stout. TONS of chocolate and fresh brewed coffee. There are hints of vanilla and perfectly roasted malt. This reminds me of my favorite cafe mocha which I happened to sip at a sidewalk café in Paris.
T: I really like great stouts and this is one of them. The flavors are off the scale. BAM in your face. Tons of rich creamy chocolate. Reminds me of the cocoa my grandmother (god rest her soul) used to prepare for me on a cold Indiana morning as a child. So chocolaty, sweet, and warming. All of that is then overtaken by a coffee taste as good if not better than the best espresso known to man.
M: Medium bodied and a creaminess that is off the scale.

Smells of wet, sour coffee grounds and a bit of pipe smoke. Smoky, semi-sweet and sour and then dry coffee. Thick and smooth. Nice bitter finish. Quite good.

Dark brown with ruby highlights and a two finger brown lace leaving crown. Aroma of chocolate, oatmeal, coffee and roasted malt. Taste of chocolate, roasted malt, coffee and oatmeal. Goes down pretty smooth and hides the alcohol well. Palate is medium and finishes up with a very mild hop presence with some chocolate and oatmeal mixed in.

Bottle from Table and Vine in MA. Pours thick black with a nice creamy brown head, warmed to 55-60 degrees. Aroma has rich espresso, notes of licorice, ash, and dark chocolate. Nice mouthfeel on this guy, real creamy and rich, with a full flavor. Body has notes of coffee, primarily, with some mid-palate burnt wood and toffee. Finish descends gently into brown sugar, roasts, baker’s chocolate and more coffee. Excellent brew, extremely well-balanced.

4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
12 oz. bottle. My 100th beer picked on the forum and boy did they choose well! Pours pitch black like used oil with a monsterous creamy brown head. The head is very slow to fade and a sticks to the glass the whole way down, leaving glorius lacing. The aroma is huge. From two feet away I can smell chocolate and roasted malt. As I get closer, I pick up big coffee notes, hints of ripe fruit, and oats. Creamy, thick, and viscous on the tongue. Oily and coating all the way down. The balance here is extraordinary. The palate is awash with chocolate, coffee, deeply roasted malt, oats, and a touch of dark fruit. A bitter chocolate taste lingers in the mouth. Heavy, rich and absolutely decadent!

12 oz bottle. This pours very dark brown with almost no head. Has an aroma of coffee, and chocolates. Flavor is similar with a hint of bitter and oats. All in all a pretty good brew. ($9.99/4pk)

Roasted coffee aroma with some salty notes, lasting head, good roasted coffee taste with balsy bitterness in the end. Would have appreciated this even more if a certain european beer involved with those darn weasels wouldn’t have come and triumphed over this. Really good stuff and damn if I could get this here by the dozen I would.
