The coffee loverís consummate beer. Brewed with an abundance of flaked oats, bitter and imported chocolates and two types of coffee, this stout has an intense fresh-roasted java nose topped with a frothy, cinnamon-colored head that goes forever.

UPDATED: SEP 4, 2011 Had this on tap at a local restaurant. Very interesting coffee colored head, unlike anything Iíve ever seen. The coffee aroma and flavor is abundant, but not overpowering and gives way to a nice chocolate / toffee taste. I will definitely purchase some more of this fantastic brew.....re-rate on Labor Day weekend about 3 years and 600+ beers rated. This stuff is just too good to go by my original rating. The dark chocolate used in this almost gives it a smokey character, itís so incredibly smooth, the Kona coffee gives it a slight bitterness that is rather unbelievable. Fantastic lacing from the dark tan head attributed to the oats used. Bumping up my rating for sure.

Bottle thanks to scrizzz. This one sounded like a gunshot when I opened, it, the cap flew off with much force. Just discovered that it was twist off. Oh well. Pours black into my snifter, with a huge, medium brown, chunky creamy frothy head rising above the rim, and yet nothing runs over the edge. Perhaps it didnít travel too well, seeing other people saying it had a small head. And I was very careful with the pour. Anyways, loads of sticky chunks of head sticking to the glass as the head slowly fades. In short, looks amazing. Aroma is fairly smooth. Sweet chocolate, some slight roasted notes, coffee, but round, not a sharp coffee note. Initial flavours are sweet chocolate, then powdery cocoa, roasted notes, ending in an aftertaste that is probably the purest and most coffee like ale Iíve had. Nice, full espresso finish. Itís got a nice roundness to it, so the coffee doesnít get too harsh. Would have liked to taste it side by side with Mikkeller Beer Geek Brunch Weasel. Mouthfeel is round and smooth, carbonation is fittingly sparse, yet notable. Medium to thick. Nice one.

Bottle. Dark, dark brown (almost black) no light gets through. Small dark beige head with a little lacing. Smells like coffee, grains, chocolate. Roasted coffee flavor. Coffee coffee coffee, with a hint of toffee and I got an after-aftertaste of oatmeal. The palate was thick and murky and heavy and chewy with mild carbonation. Quite nice. Good luck though if you donít drink your coffee black.

UPDATED: NOV 25, 2009 Pours thick jet black, thin frothy mocha head that fades quickly. Strong chocolate aroma with some vanilla , and just a hint of pine and earthy must in the background. Great creamy thick mouthfeel, light carbonation. Just a touch of sweet caramel, then a huge bitter coffee finish, nice espresso roast. Fantastic brew.

Bottle. Iím new to this style, so my rating might be scewed. Pours pure black. Tastes of roasted malts and hints of chocolate with a hint of the coffee. Very easy to drink, very smooth and no hint of the alc.%. It still didnít wow me though, but iím a hop head going through an adjustment here to a new style.

Draft. Pours deep amber/black with a thick, biege head. Dense aroma of coffee, spice, chocolate, malt, and pepper. Heavy body with a bold, creamy finish. Great stout.

One of my favorite if not my favorite. I tried this right after a KBS and I have to say while amazing and a bit more complex I prefer this to KBS. The oatmeal comes through so much better and makes for a thinner more pleasing mouthfeel IMO. If I could get my hands on this easily, Iíd be drinking it everyday.

Bottle courtesy of DA from Fever. Thanks! Pours jet black with a tan head. Smells of coffee, chocolate. Definite coffee. Tastes of coffee too. Doesnít even taste like beer....tastes like iced coffee. Bitter, but a perfect balance of bitterness and subtle sweetness. One of the best Iíve had.
