COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Youíve got to love coffee to truly appreciate this phenomenal brew. Brewed with an abundance of flaked oats, bitter and sweetened imported chocolates, Sumatra and Kona coffee. Weíre actually not sure if this is some type of coffee cake or a beer. Either way you can drink this ale with a fork. Breakfast Stout has an intense fresh roasted coffee nose toped with a cinnamon colored frothy head that seems to never fade and makes you wish breakfast could last forever.

Smell is fresh ground coffee, roasty, malts, oatmeal, chocolate. Very nice aromas. The look is black, really dark, with a camel hair colored head. The taste is roasty, coffee, chocolate, malts, and oatmeal. Very good.

dark dark pour, thin and filmy brown head, decent lacing very roasty aroma, burnt coffee, some chocolate, and dark cherries very smooth mouthfeel (the oatmeal?) and fairly oily taste is more subdued, moslty roasted coffee and bitterness (from malt, not hops) very long bittersweet malty finish nice beer, though the bitterness from the coffee/malt is pretty intense

UPDATED: MAY 27, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a coffee black color, very thick with a small tan head. Before I even leaned over to smell it, during the pour, I had this outburst of coffee smell engulfing my nose, which I love because I like coffee, but even this was a lot. You can tell just from the smell that you are dealing with a lot of coffee. The only downside is that coffee is the only thing you can get from it, not able to smell anything else. As it warms, more oat smells come out. The taste is of an extreme amount of coffee, kind of makes me think of what it would be like to chew on a coffee bean. There are very subtle hints of oatmeal, but it is over-powered by the coffee (which I personally enjoy). It is pretty smooth going down, as long as you can handle the coffee. Overall, an interesting take on Breakfast stout, but maybe they over-did it on the coffee part, as I was expecting more oatmeal too.

The aroma is fantastic and could even set the standard for the style. It has coffee, chocolate, cream, burnt malt, hops, and molasses. The appearance is black with a small but nice tan head. The flavor is way to burnt and bitter with a acidic burnt coffee after taste. The palate is actually a little thin for the style. Overall its a beer worth having but in the end its not fantastic.

330 mL. Pours jet black with a menacing ultra dark tan head that dwindles to a thin layer leaver spotty lacing. Aromas of espresso, cocoa, coffee grounds, molasses. Taste is huge on the coffee but not too astringent or acidic. Nice oily, coating mouthfeel. Some ultra dark chocolate in the finish. 8.3% is nicely hidden. Excellent.

this is deffiniatly a coffee loverís dream. Aroma was dominated by roasted cofeee with a heaping of dose of dark chocolate. Poured pretty thick and it coated the mouth nicely, very velvety. Taste lingered for a while with its strong coffee and dark chocolate notes, everything about this was as promised no surprises. I just had to taste this one but it is not my style that is for sure. But on itís merrits I give it a ........

This is up there among my favorite beers-- I was moping about the three I had in my basement from last yearís brewing when I found that the local beer store had a case. Itís an incredibly deep and complex beer, and around Philadelphia Iíve found that the biggest problem is that it gets served too cold (many bars serve pretty much everything at about the same temperature), and itís so, so much better when it gets up above, I donít know, 50 degrees. Warm, cold, whatever-- an excellent beer.
