4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
12oz bottle. Poured dark coffee black with a thin tan head. You can read the label or smell the nose, you will get the same input, COFFEE. Definitely more coffee than chocolate, but the chocolate is there. Slight hint of the alcohol, but I had a pretty fresh one, which will of course only get better with age. Smooth and big mouthful, with a medium bitter finish. Very delicious!

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle, from Binny’s in Plainfield. Pours an extremely creamy looking black. Small, dark brown, fizzy head that dissipates quickly, however, remains extremely lacy and swirly. A gorgeous looking beer. The smell is extremely potent. Lots of freshly roasted black coffee, a mix of bitter dark chocolate and sweet milk chocolate, and a creamy oatmeal/warmness that is very unique. A barely noticeable hint of alcohol creeps up in the background as well. The flavor is very similar to the aroma and very quick on the tongue. It has a big and dark expresso flavor throughout and finishes with the bittersweet chocolate/oatmeal. Light bodied, oily, and creamy leaving a clean, dry, and fantastic lingering bittersweetness. Overall, a phenomenal oatmeal stout. Great balance for an imperial. Not very complex, but loaded with flavor and a lingering taste that makes me crave more and more.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pours a thick almost clumpy darkness that would make a dark moonless night jealous. The froathy/creamy slightly cinnamon colored 2 finger head fades into a nice thin layer on the top and a slightly thicker ring along the sides. The direct keg version of this fine brew has more of a lactose flavor than the same brew out of the bottle. Nice SUPER dark and deep roasted coffee and slight mocha notes. No presence of chocolate in the aroma that is distinguishable from other aromas. This, like many [or all] FOUDNERS beers are GARGANTUEN. If Dark Lord is a Gargantuan Imperial Russian Stout than this is the same for coffee & oatmeal. The flavors are so strong that I feel like I’m drinking an Ice Coffee (but obviously much better than mere coffee). There are really nice bittersweet chocolate notes that seem to intermingle with the lactose. The coffee and oatmeal aftertaste is so big is tends to sit so long that you actually want an ice java (black)!!!! I loved this brew bottled and I love this brew even more on tap! This brew is hearty and full of everything the claim to be full of (oatmeal, coffee and some chocolate)!
This beer is just plain old delicious!!!

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
bottle. pours oily black with a dark brown head. a very light roasted barley aroma. moderate to thick body - impressively dry. not at all cloying. extremely smooth taste likely due to the oatmeal element. bitter sweet chocolate and espresso flavors on the back end. nicely balanced for an imperial. no alcohol noticeable in taste. i bet the carbonation would fall in perfectly with some cellaring.
