Youíve got to love coffee to truly appreciate this phenomenal brew. Brewed with an abundance of flaked oats, bitter and sweetened imported chocolates, Sumatra and Kona coffee. Weíre actually not sure if this is some type of coffee cake or a beer. Either way you can drink this ale with a fork. Breakfast Stout has an intense fresh roasted coffee nose toped with a cinnamon colored frothy head that seems to never fade and makes you wish breakfast could last forever.

Very dark black in color with a thin chocolate head. Great looking viscous black beer. Lovely aroma; at first the aroma is a bit woody, and then you get that sweet chocolate coffee aroma. It is not hard to smell very pungent beer. Nice thick sweet chocolate taste with a strong coffee after taste. This is comparable to Terrapin Wake & Bake with a bit less of the dominating coffee taste. Best part is the thick chocolate taste followed by the coffee with the bitter finish. Love this beer. Has a complex aroma and flavor. Great beer with great flavors. Canít wait to try the Kentucky Breakfast. Strong stout. One of the best.

Pours deep black with plenty of brown head that slowly dissipates. This beer is almost all coffee. Both the aroma and the flavor are full of roasty coffee notes. Besides the coffee is nice chocolatey sweetness with some oatmeal. Full bodied. Hides the alcohol quite well. Nicely done.

Very very dark/black opaque brown. with about an 3/4 inch of brown head. Strong coffee aromas with rich roasted malts and chocolate also coming through nicely. A strong coffee flavor joined by chocolate, caramel, roasted malts, oatmeal. Flavor is slightly bitter overall. Smooth and creamy texture, light carbonation, and a slightly dry finish. This beer is all about the coffee. A wonderful breakfast stout. I really want some more.

On tap at Three Cellars. Flavor is smooth coffee and roasted malt. Very nice oatmeal body and feel. A great Stout.

Thanks to Brian in PA for this one. As previous posts have said - you have to love coffee to love this one. Pours a deep black - totally opaque. Minimal brown head. Strong coffee aroma, which becomes more pleasant as the beer warms (not surprising). Flavor is coffee and roasted malt. What seems like hop bitterness is actually chocolate. I like this one a lot, but feel that there are others that are slightly more balanced and a bit better overall. But you canít go wrong with a pint of this one. Strong lacing on the glass as you savor this one. Delicious. Not for the first-time stout drinker - you either wonít like it or wonít appreciate its complexity. Perfect beer for tonight, as weíre due for about 16" of snow!

Pours a very dark brown/black with a thin brown head. Aroma is very bitter with a lot of cold coffee and some very light sweet chocolate background. Flavor is bitter upfront with strong cold coffee flavor to start. This fades to a lighter chocolate middle but then finishes with a bitter chocolate/coffee flavor with a nice dryness to end. Beer is pretty smooth and has a good thickness to it. Meh, overall I think this beer is a bit over rated. Itís a good beer for what it is aiming to be but not something that is very drinkable all the time nor in a four pack. Thanks goodness I found a single bottle of it for its a bit to much coffee for my taste.

[Bottle] Pours a very deep brown with a smallish tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma initially is dry chocolate, french press coffee, and roasted malts. Flavor is quite chocolaty with lots of bakers and bittersweet chocolate, remarkably dry, lots of coffee, hints of oats more on the texture than flavor, a touch of astringency, and a dry bitterish finish. Rich, smooth mouthfeel. A winner all around.

From the bottle, courtesy of Secret Santa, pours black with a brown foamy head. Aroma is bitter, of coffee and dark roasted malts. Taste is smooth and lightly bitter, coffee, caramel. Lighter than expected, pretty good beer here. Thanks, Santa!

UPDATED: JUL 20, 2009 2/23/2009 from 12oz bottle received in trade ~6 months ago. Aroma is great. Mostly coffee in the beast. Chocolate comes through in the finish. Finish is oily and really strong, quite good. Palate could be thicker. 9/4/9/4/17-4.3 Re-rate. 2 bottles mid 05/2009 purchased 4/2009. I canít tell if this is too young or too old. Iím thinking too young because I got it so recently, but it has some alcohol character. Nothing too much, but it doesnít work well with the beer. It is slightly vinous-could be the first signs of oxidation. Greater chocolate to coffee ratio than the first rate. 8/4/8/3/16-3.9 7/20/09. Another bottle from the most recent 4pack. Much better. Back where I remember it. Iíll have to sit on these for just a few months before I open em. No vinous character-guess it was just young before, not oxidized. Tons of chocolate, tons of coffee, etc. Quite thick, even too thick. Aroma-coffee, good, not great. Flavor-coffee-great, chocolate-great. 8/4/10/4/17-4.3

Pours a dark body with a tan head. Aroma is coffee first and foremost. Naturally thereís some chocolate and a little bit of burnt malt. Flavor is really solid. Itís a sweet cup of coffee. I enjoy it quite a bit. Chocolate gives it a slightly rounder flavor, but coffee is really what it all comes down to here. Finishes with nice bitter burnt notes. Quite tasty beer.
