4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: OCT 21, 2011 On tap at The Lackman. Pours deep black with a small creamy cappuccino head. Delicate lacing of the glass. Aroma of dark-roasted coffee is immediately apparent. Taste of rich, fresh, black coffee with bittersweet and dark chocolate. Medium-thin, smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Finish is deliciously bitter and lingering. Always a pleasure to drink and an absolute favorite.

UPDATED: OCT 6, 2008 Black pour with thin tan head. Coffee and chocolate in the aroma. Full bodied, silky, very thick. Tastes like a cold, carbonated mocha with a touch of vanilla. Very sticky, aftertaste lingers. Amazing.

Wow! Really nice chocolate aroma with a touch of hops in the bouquet. Very dark pour with head and lacing typical of a stout. Smooth mouthfeel with a sweet finish. I really enjoyed this one.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Deep brownish black and supports a medium tall, dense and creamy light brown head. Strong dark roasted coffee and fresh from the oven brownie aroma. Rich flavors with a mix of bittersweet chocolate, toffee, vanilla and coffee with a touch of pepper at the very end. Silky, creamy texture and a warming finish that’s full of flavor and surprisingly dry. A great stout.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
There’s a lot going on in this beer. The finish is complex, with bitterness from the coffee, chocolate, and hops all adding a different layer. The chocolate is such a nice touch, and it separates this brew from many of the other coffee beers that I have tried. All the flavors mesh really well, and this is world class for sure. A little pricey, but worth it.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours so dark black I can’t see through it even when I hold it up to the light. I aggressively poured and got a nice frothy chocolate colored head. However that quickly disappeared. Aroma is strong. I didn’t even have to approach the glass and I could smell the roast. Smells of heavily roasted malts and coffee grounds. Taste is a little astringent with heavy roast and coffee grounds present. If you wait a bit a bitterness with form on the back sides of the tongue. I little bit thin but hides alcohol. I know really want to try the Kentucky Breakfast.

UPDATED: OCT 7, 2008 Pours a deep black with a small this head. As a coffee lover this is the beer for me. Tastes heavily of coffee and malt. Great beer and very drinkable if it was only cheaper.
Had on tap at Barleys.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
THOUGHTS: Not the best Impy, but a great beer. A little one-sided, but it’s a great side. Hid alcohol incredibly well. More coffee than beer, really. But tat was fine by me.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a dark, nearly black, brown that was opaque, black in the glass with a small, light brown, head that mostly diminished and left fair lacing. The aroma was mostly heavy strong coffee, then there was heavy dark bread, oats and roasted and burnt malts with a little cream. The initial flavor was heavily sweet and lightly acidic; while the finish was heavily sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, and sour with and average to long duration. There was mostly coffee, then caramel, a little chocolate, roasted oats and maybe a little hops showing at the end. The full body was creamy then oily with lightly fizzy with a moderate astringent finish.

Simply outstanding. Pours black, with a small head. Aromas of coffee, malt, and something I can not place. Taste follows suit with great espresso flavors with a great balance of hops and malt. Great beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: FEB 24, 2009 12 oz bottle, biggest coffee flavored beer EVER! A black colored beer with a very nice tan colored head. The aroma is very dry and very roasted coffee. The taste is more roasted coffee beans.Kinda reminded me of a day old black. The alcohol comes through but really itís just too coffee dominated for my liking. Expected more from this overhyped beer. REally did not think this beer was all that great, the bourboun stout on the other hand is well balanced and not over coffeed!
Re-Rate 02/20/09 5 months cellered. Mellowed out a bit. Taste much smoother, silkie. Enjoyed it a bit more
