4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JUL 14, 2006 Bottle shared with and courtesy of HogTownHarry. Oh, the anticipation! Iíve heard so many good things about this beer, I hope it lives up to my expectations. It pours like motor oil with a small diminishing light-brown head. The aroma, to quote GregClow: COFFEE, COFFEE, COFFEE, COFFEE etc. It smells pretty frigginí awesome. I think I will just smell it for a while and Iíll return later. Iím back, time to taste this sucker: Oh yeah, thatís good stuff baby! Flavour of coffee of course, along with some chocolate and a mild bitterness. Creamy mouthfeel and medium bodied. Well itís safe to say I was not dissapointed in the least, this is an excellent Sweet Stout. "COFFEE, COFFEE, COFFEE!"

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: MAR 1, 2006 Bottle (12oz). Shared with blankboy, bottle from my friend Dave B. I have been waiting for this day for a long, long time now. Poured thick opaque black with a large, lasting, pillowy-foamy dark brown head - gorgeous. Aroma is thick roast dark coffee - a double helping - with burnt roast nuts, bakerís chocolate, extra-bitter hops, yeast, and a hint of cream - beautifully bitter nose. Taste - a near-perfect blend of bitter but not too bitter coffees, chocolates and hops with some tart berry fruit hints - I WOULD have this for breakfast! This has a thick, creamy, almosty whipped mouthfeel, lovely restrained long bitter finish. This would probably kill those idiots who insist Guinness is the be-all and end-all of stouts. Weenies.

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Intense! This is breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Or at least dessert - skip the chocolate cake and bring on this stout. Pours dark brown with ruby highlights, but hits the glass and fills it with a brown-black that light does not penetrate. Brown fluffly head. Alcohol and coffee nose. Starts coffee, with a lon middle, and intense chocolate finish. Malts and tar (in a good way) along the way. Thick, rich mouth feel. Wonderful stuff! But a little too intense for regular consumption - save it for a special occassion or to knock the socks off a lager-head.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pour is a shiny black with a small tan head. Aroma is deffinatly coffee. Reminds me when you first open a can of coffee and that wonderful smell hits you. Flavor is espresso with a milky sweetness. After the swallow notes of chocolate and vanilla are left on the tounge. Good coffee brew without the coffee bitterness. Another tasty brew from Founders.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
12z bottle. Sweet coffee and bittersweet chocolate notes are abundant immediately upon opening. Opaque black with a slight ring of tan head. Definite coffee nose, but also a mild sweet raisiny aroma. Sweet malts hit you a split second before the coffee and bitter chocolate dominate the flavor. Finishes up with a toasty graininess. This is a great beer, but since Iím not a coffee drinker, one is definitely enough...for tonight! And whenever the occasion arises for early morning libations, this one is at the top of the list. This is also a prime example of a sweet stout. All of the bitterness is present in the malt. Not too much of a hop note can be detected. Which is just fine with me, bring on the malts! I love the concept of caffeine in a beer to keep you awake so you can drink more! Bloody geniuses!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Black with a thin tan head that stays on top of the beer the entire time. Complex smell of chocolate coffee caramel and oatmeal. Taste is amazingly diverse starting off with a coffee kick that quickly goes to cream and chocolate finishing up with a rich oatmeal taste. You could definetly drink this beer for breakfast and feal satisfied for a few hours.

4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: JUN 29, 2006 Bottle from the neato dude known as Slob Thanks!
Pours a thick, rich, dark, opaque, oily black with brown highlights. Aroma is the same as sniffing a bag of fresh coffee grounds. Oh man, this is good. Instant coffee rush followed by a bit of roasted malt. Oh, how the taste swirls around the taste buds! Dancing flavors of chocolate and a tinge of cedar emerge in the finish, but the coffee is never more than a stoneís throw away. This is a rich, rich stout that should be savored. Palate is thick, gooey, and coating. It doesnít get much better than this. SLOB (OR ANYONE): SEND MORE MY WAY!!!

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
At first this beer hesitates to be poured out of the bottle. But then pours a beautiful dark brown with a thick brown head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, oatmeal, vanilla and maple syrup. Various coffees and chocolates in the taste. Too hard for me to analyze. Palate rocks. This sweet stout is priced well and just wonderful

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Mad propts to MikeMac for the Trade: Smell was quite different, almost milky. Pours nice and pretty.. not quite as thick as I tought it would be. The taste is coffee to the 20th degree. I have had a lot of coffee brews, but none on this level.
