You’ve got to love coffee to truly appreciate this phenomenal brew. Brewed with an abundance of flaked oats, bitter and sweetened imported chocolates, Sumatra and Kona coffee. We’re actually not sure if this is some type of coffee cake or a beer. Either way you can drink this ale with a fork. Breakfast Stout has an intense fresh roasted coffee nose toped with a cinnamon colored frothy head that seems to never fade and makes you wish breakfast could last forever.

Pours thick, black with a nice head. Aroma of cocoa, coffee, nice malt. Tastes of coffee, cocoa, nice bitterness (no cream or sugar needed). Very smooth, creamy, delicious. Sip it, appreciate the complexity. Great for after dinner; I haven’t had it for breakfast.

I smell chocolate and coffee, very nice smelling. very dark, beige head. Nice mouth feel, slightly thinner then I thought it would be. I would like a double chocolate stout to have more chocolate, but it’s still very very good. Pick this up if you see it.

Dark nearly black pour with thin brown head. Very roasty aroma with notes of chocolate and coffee. Tastes of cocoa powder and coffee, dark roasted malt. Long roasted coffee/cocoa bitter finish. Nice coating mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from a 4 pack bottled 10/6/14. Pours a dark chocolate brown with a small tan head. Immediately smell coffee with some toasted oats. The taste is of coffee, chocolate, roasted malts, some nice hop bitterness, cocoa, oats, and, cinnamon. Complex and delicious. Smooth and creamy on the palate with some earthy tones. Coffee lingers on the tongue along with a hop flavor.

Bottle - Pours dark with almost no highlights. Rocky head that dissipates fairly quickly. Aromas of coffee and roasted malts. Carbonation is light on the tongue. Aromas carry through the taste with some chocolate and fig notes. Warming alcohol comes through and the finish is slightly bitter. A lot going on, but well made. Quality stout.

Again, I’m frightened by the bottle art. (Why the soulless infant eyes, Founders? Why?) But I can’t complain about anything else. Let’s start with that aroma. Damn, the roasted coffee smell is huge. Some toasty, bittersweet malt aromas come just behind it. Body is black as night and the brown head is tight and smooth. Flavor is massive. Bold coffee and bitter chocolate. I imagine that the oatmeal and chocolate sweetness is coaxed out with some aging, but this brew was fresh and strong - and that suits me just fine! Mouthfeel is silky smooth. I look forward to trying the other variations of this ale.

Pours black as my ex's heart with a huge, brown head that stayed pillowy for a minute and then reduced to a thin, filmy coating that stayed. Generous lacing. Nose is a blast of dark roast coffee and some malty sweetness. Taste is blissfully balanced. There's a massive malt punch, but very nice bitter coffee and chocolate notes come through as well. Long bitter finish. Full body; vigorous carbonation. Superior brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355ml bottle @ home. Pours black with a nice brown head. Aroma is rich coffee/espresso, heavy roasted malt, dark chocolate and oats. Flavour is intense bitter coffee and roasted malt, medium sweet. Full bodied, thick texture, average carbonation. The finish is mildly bitter and like a cup of strong coffee.

Bottle, less than a month old. Pours a beautiful black with thick brown head. Aroma is rich coffee, chocolate. Very aromatic without being too desert because of the intense roastiness. Taste is dark chocolate, coffee, oat and roasted bitterness. Palate is amazing because of the oat. Smooth and creamy. One of the best use of oat in a beer, it melds beautifully with the intense chocolate and roasted flavors. Feels softer than it really is.
