From a bottle to a glass. Taste is coffee, malt and coffee. A little less than I was expecting given all the hype. Still a very good beer.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Appearance - espresso color beer, mocha head good lace
Aroma - roasty coffee, creamy, oatmeal
Taste - roasty coffee, cream, cocoa, oats, espresso
Mouth - heavy, full, alc completely covered, aftertaste roasted coffee
Overall - great beer, used to think it was too harsh/roasted. With 6 months in the bottle it seems smoother and more creamy.

Bouteille. 8.3%. Merci Jean-Ben !. Couleur noire opaque, mousse brune. Arômes puissants de café et cacao. En bouche, notes intenses de café, chocolat, torréfaction mais le tout est d’une douceurs incroyable. Finale en café, un peu de cacao, et une amertume délicate qui demande une autre gorgée. Excellente.

Smooth mouth. Coffee taste well balanced with the malt. Goes great with breakfast in the afternoon. Chase it with a shot of bourbon and some pancakes with maple syrup and bacon and you can save $100 on KBS and CBS. Top three coffee stouts with Wake and Bake and

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
355ml bottle from Ship in the Bottle West Kirby Wirral. Pours very dark with a small head which soon dissipates. Strong aroma of toasted malt with some coffee and chocolate. Intense burnt flavour allied to a strong coffee/chocolate swallow. Not the best I have tasted but really worth trying.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap. Served a virtual black color with a nice head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and bit of chocolate. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt and bit of chocolate. Taste of roasted coffee, malt and bit of chocolate sweetness. Mild bitterness and a dry finish. Full body, thick and almost gritty. Nicely balanced. Very good beer for the style.

Poured from bottle into snifter
Appearance – Pours a deep-deep brown, if not black, color with little to no light seeping through the brew. There was a thin brown had that formed and lasted about 1 min before fading to give some nice lacing.
Smell – Sweet chocolate is heavy in the nose. This mixes in with a bit of roasted coffee and an ever so slight bit of vanilla toward the middle of the taste. While the chocolate is there throughout, it changes it aroma ever so slightly as it mixed with other aromas. Initially in the nose it is of sweet chocolate, but toward the end it becomes more bitter cocoa with an ever so slight boozy finish. Very nice.
Taste –At first a bit of roasted bitter coffee and dark chocolate are detected. A nice oatmeal backbone then starts to mix with a little bit of sweet vanilla. This seems to sweeten the dark chocolate/cocoa flavor bringing it more to the realm of a sweet chocolate flavor. The bitter is not lost, however, and at the end of the taste sweet and bitter chocolate seem to mingle with a light alcohol flavor.
Mouthfeel – If there is any disappointing point to this beer, it would be that the mouthfeel (which really isn’t disappointing) which doesn’t live up to the taste, aroma, or look. It’s creamy but could actually use an ever so slight boost in creaminess; a little more tongue clinging smooth. The carbonation seems an ever so bit too much also. It is a nice feel overall, but in comparison to its other attributes (taste, smell and look) it is a bit weak.
Overall – This is a very nice beer to sit back with and sip. The complexity of aroma and flavor are truly astounding, both of which transition very nicely.
