| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 16, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours a jet black with small brown head. Rich aroma of chocolate, milk, and coffee. Flavor is of rich malty coffee. I got more chocolate in the aroma, coffee in the flavor. Lightly carbonated and syrupy. This is definitely richly flavorful, and good for sipping. At this consistency I’m actually surprised there’ not more booze in it, not that that affects my judgment of it. Excellent. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 13, 2009 Bottle - It’s a beautiful beer, pouring dark as night with a massive tan head. I’ve always loved the way this beer smells -- a blast of coffee, cinnamon, a touch of milk and chocolate -- just pure decadence. Taste is real roasty, dark malt with bitter chocolate. The coffee isn’t as intense in the taste, as the cinnamon and chocolate take more center stage. The finish is a bit too bitter and burnt, but it’s still really tasty. It’s smooth, chewy, and slick. There just isn’t too much not to like about this beer. One of my all-time faves.
