4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Aroma: it honestly smells like a bacon and egg breakfast w/ Tobasco sauce to me, I donít care if this beer is mostly supposed to reflect coffee/chocolate flavors, this beer truly captures the essence of my Sunday breakfasts: 2 eggs, sunny side up, smothered with Tobasco verde sauce and black pepper, 3 strips of maple smoked bacon, two whole wheat toast w/ butter and cherry jelly for soaking up the yoke, strong black coffee (no cream or sugar), and a small glass of O.J., yup, thatís what Iím reminded of when I smell this brew; Appearance: the body is standard stout, coffee brown bordering on black, but the head is exactly as described on the bottle, a frothy cinnamon color that lingers after the pour; Taste: strong hashbrown/skillet, but also the roasty coffee and dark chocolate that this brew is known for, heavy smoke also, again, just like the aroma, the taste truly captures the essence of a breakfast; Palate: decent bitter lingers, which helps remind you that youíre drinking a beer as opposed to eating a meal; Overall: I can honestly say that I loved this beer before my colleagues on RB took a liking to it too, so my rating is in no way influenced by its tremendous popularity, Iíve been raving about this stout to my family and friends, and, except for one person who is not a fan of coffee, everyone has agreed that its either one of the best stouts theyíve ever had, or its at least one of the better ones theyíve had in a while, enjoy!

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Date: June 27, 2015... Glassware: Classic Guinness pint... Occasion: a rainy--and cool--late June evening... Appearance: the standard dark black body that dares one to find daylight; brown, slushy head that settles quickly to a boggish texture; lacing forms in strong smears that hold steady.... Aroma: a welcoming brash punch of alcoholic spirits--bourbon, rum--with fresh hops pushing up earthy peat with strength...some cherry, cola, and dampened wood...the chocolate and coffee come late but round the experience nicely.... Palate: full-bodied and mega creamy; tickles the teeth with some happiness, only to crash the throat with a brick-like weight that doesnít disturb the taste buds; for a stout, a lively amount of carbonation; reasonable, warm, slightly alcoholic finish....Taste: the chocolate mellows the coffee bean enough to make the two a happy marriage, with slightly citric fruits peaking at the start, in and amongst the malty, earthy aspects...rewarding and warming--again, a fitting beer to be had at the start (or the end of) a day--versatile in its power...Overall: a formidable, forceful beer that challenges the taste buds and rewards the palate; Founders continues to produce upper tier beers; this one from the break pack box leftovers--quite a find at $13.99 a twelve pack at Hope Liquors!

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours where black is the color, where none is the number. Fittingly drank in a driving rain storm. Thin light brown head that subsides rapidly. Deep dark chocolate aroma with sweet, creamy caramel and roasted notes. Slightly bitter taste of dark cocoa nibs, roasted malts, and smooth blends of fresh espresso. Full bodied, chewy texture with a soft, velvety finish. Fulfilling stout.

4.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Poured from bottle. Pours jet black engine oil. Doesnít retain much of a head.
Smell - the beer isnít that strong smelling. I am picking up coffee, and subtle hints of chocolate, but itís not very well prounounced.
Taste - wow. The taste just completely shatters your noses impression. This is amazing. Nice silky mouthfeel, roasted coffee and chocolate. It is so smooth at 8.3%. With every sip I keep saying to myself how amazing this beer is. Its like you could pour it over a bowl of icecream. 10/10 on the taste.
Probably the best balanced coffee beer you can find. Get it!!

Below average. Boring, wouldnít drink again. Coffee flavor is dull and tannic. Consistency is thin. Aroma is poor.

This is a truly unique imperial stout. Deep black colour with a light brown head. Aroma and taste are full of coffee and dark bitter chocolate with hints of caramel, roasted malt and oat. A great imperial stout.

Very dark brown color, average sized brownish head. Aroma of coffee, herbs, chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt. Taste is the same. Very smooth and sticky. Medium to full body, soft carbonation. Long coffee and malty aftertaste. Excellent.
