COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Youíve got to love coffee to truly appreciate this phenomenal brew. Brewed with an abundance of flaked oats, bitter and sweetened imported chocolates, Sumatra and Kona coffee. Weíre actually not sure if this is some type of coffee cake or a beer. Either way you can drink this ale with a fork. Breakfast Stout has an intense fresh roasted coffee nose toped with a cinnamon colored frothy head that seems to never fade and makes you wish breakfast could last forever.

Poured into a tulip glass dark brown almost black. Started with about 3/4 inch of dark foam that dissipated to a lighter ring. Nice lacing all the way to the bottom. Smell is coffee, roasty malt, caramel and maybe a little vanilla. Wonderful sweet malt, coffee and caramel taste. Not too sweet, just right. Medium/heavy mouthfeel with light carbonation. Overall an excellent beer. Very flavorful but not overpowering. Easy to drink for a bigger stout.

Appearance is excellent. Smell is deceptive, just a hint of coffee. Alcohol is wonderfully hidden. The taste is pure heaven! Coffee, chocolate, a bit of smoky deliciousness. Feels wonderful in the mouth, full and satisfying - sticky lips and all. A wonderful brew Iíll be searching for again and again. Founders has thoroughly impressed me with their brewing skillz! As for breakfast consumption, maybe on vacation. This baby packs a wallop!

A great stout. I'm thrilled when I find them on the shelf. I can hardly wait for my next bottle to fill a tall and frosty glass. :-) ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This did not disappoint. Truly exceptional roasted coffee aroma with hints of chocolate, and a beautiful, thick, foamy dark tan head with great lacing. Itís so appetizing looking it likely makes it taste even better. And it tastes great, mouth filling, full of coffee and chocolate, well balanced, almost chewey. Really good stuff.

12 oz bottle: pours dark, nearly black with a thin to medium thick tan head. Aroma is mostly coffee, roasted malt and a lightly toasted bread background. Taste is bitter with a slightly sweet finish . Flavoris also dominated with coffee sweet syrup and some nice hop backbone. Mouthful is strong, medium thickness. Easy drinking, especially if you like dark roast coffee.

Bottle from Pothole (Ä 4,60). BB date not readable. Pours a thick extreme dark brown with minimal tan head (poured into a cognac glass). Nose is breathtaking: like sniffing a bag of fresh ground coffee, with strong sidenotes of raw cocoa, bitter chocolate, black olives, tar and pungent leather... and itís even more complex when itís warmed to room temperature... still dominated by the strong ground coffee but complemented by dark dried fruits and cherries soaked in liqueur... Taste is initially quite tamed hop bitterness that is quickly covered in a cloud of chocolaty sweet, then as it warms it thickens and acquires characteristics of port wine or liqueur chocolate candies. Palate thick and viscous, texture smooth and velvety, body near heavy, carbonation not prickly but just enough to cut through the sludgy thickness. Alcohol sure detectable but not overpowering. A fantastic brew... Did not really feel like having this in the morning but I do imagine this going well with, or rather after, bacon.

A sweet, chocolaty, coffee-dominated, complex Stout with tamed alcohol and not much bitterness. Among the best beers Iíve had.

Bottle from drinkstore. Pours oily black with tan head which disappears. Coffee bean, leather, liquorice, lactose, light musty tobacco. Flavour is sweet milk chocolate (35% cocoa), coffee, lactose, tobacco. Full body flavour with dry finish. Creamy smooth mouthfeel but light. Very nice.

4 oz draft pour at ChurchKey. Black with tan head. Aromas of big roasted coffee, dark chocolate. Mostly coffee on the aroma though. Tastes of roasted coffee, caramel, dark chocolate, coffee grounds. Full body with a dry finish. Very nice.

UPDATED: NOV 22, 2014 At home in a snifter. Aroma: coffee(duh), chocolate (duh), caramel, bread Appearance: Pours thick, opaque black, and has great head retention that "lasts for days" Taste: Big punch of coffee. Smooth and sweet. Lingering bitterness. Palate: Thick and creamy Overall: A pretty dang good beer, especially for the price.
