4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Superb light espresso / dark coffee nose with a subtle use of cacao and oats, strong acidity from coffee on follow through with a lasting quality of oatmeal finally there; finish has chocolate, roasted malts, and sits on the back on the tongue in a very pleasant way.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
From a 12 oz bottle. Not quite black, just a little reddish-brown head which disappears quickly. Reasonably thick on the pour. Aroma of coffee, lots of chocolate, roasted malts, oats. This is a mildly bitter beer.
This is an outstanding beer, available in the winter.....try it while you can.

One of the best at style. Anyone that found it should try it. Great body, with coffee and chocolate aroma and taste.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
From a 355ml bottle on 24/1/2015. Pours close to black with a small head. Has a powerful, quite lovely aroma featuring masses of coffee, milk and dark chocolate and vanilla. Flavour wise, this takes you to coffee and chocolate heaven - sweet and roasty with exquisite smoothness and balance. Thereís more vanilla, a hint of oats and a touch of spice, and while itís obviously a big beer, itís not in the least bit heavy. This is so easy to drink, with a sublime creamy palate and soft carbonation. Intensity and complexity are both there in spades. This is simply an extraordinary experience. I never expected to find another coffee stout which would challenge the extraordinary Peche Mortel, but I think this one might even just shade it. Easily one of if not the best beers Iíve ever had the pleasure of consuming. Abso-fucking-lutely magnificent.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma is high quality coffee, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, oats and sharp hops. Pitch black with a dark tan head. Taste is everything from the aroma with a slight booze burn at the end. Bitter, but in a strong iced coffee sort of way instead of hop bitterness. Definitely a coffee stout; the addition of oats do not make it overly sweet like some oatmeal stouts. The palate is smooth and oily with a great aftertaste. Overall very well done. Founders has upped the ante on coffee stouts. Other than Mikkeller Beer Geek Brunch Weasel, itís the best coffee stout Iíve ever had.

Could drink this any time of the day! Very smooth. Love the coffee/molasses flavor. Would go great with a plate of pancakes. Or poured over ice cream.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Can only agree with all others rating this beer before me, a great bear. Chocolate aroma, weak coffee. Chocolate taste, some bitterness, but that is only contributing to taste. (Manchester 201501)

4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Big coffee aroma with some ígreení characteristic. Little bit boozy on the nose with roasty hints. Head is dark latte and substantial slowly diminishing to reveal the almost black liquid beneath. The mouthfeel is the first noticeable thing on tasting, which is thick and oily. The coffee flavour overpowers really but the dark roast flavours support it. The first time I tried this beer I loved it but since then,I had a bad experience with coffee and it put me off coffee beer. I thought this might get reversed, or at least stay out of sight if I tried this beer again but no.. I still find it disagreeable. Itís the green sort of flavour which comes out of the oils I dislike. Never mind. Itís still a great brew.
