Poured into a snifter yields a small mocha head the dissipates to nothing. Smell is day old coffee ground and chocolate. Taste is more of the same, espresso strength coffee, and subtle rich chocolate. A little bit of bitterness at the end... Could be coffee or could be hops. Good carbonation that lights up the old taste buds. Everything founds does is on point and this is not an exception. Excellent stout.

Always pour into a snifter, smell is coffee up front and chocolate. Taste I’d coffee chocolate coffee chocolate, wow. I had to finally rate this beer because it is one of my favorites from one of my favorite breweries. This beer is amazing. I always have some of this in my fridge, thank you founders.

Enjoyed this in my kegerator for a good part of winter. So delicious. Also have had in the bottle. Very smooth, perfectly sweet. I could drink this all day and night.

18.05.2013, 0,35l bottle @ home: Big creamy longlasting head. Aroma is lots of roasted coffee, roasted dark malts, dark chocolate, burnt caramel, hops. Taste is smooth, lots of roasted coffee, burnt caramel, roasted dark malts, hops, dark chocolate, grass, a little vanilla. Longlasting bitterness, a little dry mouthfeel. Definately something to drink instead of the morning coffee.

Bottle 0.355l at Gallows Bird, Espoo. Colour is black with small brownish white head. Aromas and flavours: Coffee, dark chocolate, licorice and roaster malts.

Good beer although I’ve had it so many times that I’ve grown tired of it till next year. Lay this one on it’s side for 6 months and you’ll be glad you did. A few months on this beer does amazing things for it’s mixing of flavors. Try it fresh and age some and then thank me later for the advice.

Style: Imperial Stout ABV: 8.3% Purchased at: Brother’s Market; Lisbon, IA Pour: Thick brown/black pour with a brown head. Aroma: Wonderful aroma of rich coffee and chocolate with roasted malts. Flavor: Definitely a full-bodied stout. A ton of coffee and chocolate flavor with the roasted malt rounding it out nicely. Ratebeer.com rating: 100/100 Beeradvocate.com rating: 100/100 Overall: A+ My recommendation: A go to seasonal for sure. Like I said above, you still could possibly find some on the shelves and it’s the perfect time to stock on a few four packs. A must try brew.

Bottle courtesy of Homer321. Pours black with a nice tan head that sticks around for just the right amount of time. Aromas are coffee, coffee and more coffee then some chocolate finished off with a nice roast malt undertone. Flavors are reminiscent of a great cup of black coffee, with bitter coffee notes then just a dash of rich cream and finally more coffee this time more similar to coffee grounds. Palate is very nice, though not as thick as I supposed it would be, which suits this beer better than a hugely thick beer would. Overall this is a very nice example of a breakfast stout, just enough coffee, not much to detract from that flavor and not overwhelmingly heavy.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle with a little head. Tastes strongly of dark chocolate and strong coffee. Oatmeal is hard to find, but there. Look forward to enjoying again.

Pours cola black with a small tan head. Aroma is espresso and dark chocolate all day with a little hint of tobacco. Taste is sweet espresso up front with a chocolatey mid palate and a smooth malt finish. Everything is well balanced and pairs well with shortbread cookies, guitars, beautiful women and fireworks.
