COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
You’ve got to love coffee to truly appreciate this phenomenal brew. Brewed with an abundance of flaked oats, bitter and sweetened imported chocolates, Sumatra and Kona coffee. We’re actually not sure if this is some type of coffee cake or a beer. Either way you can drink this ale with a fork. Breakfast Stout has an intense fresh roasted coffee nose toped with a cinnamon colored frothy head that seems to never fade and makes you wish breakfast could last forever.

On tap at Urge as part of their 4th anniversary event. Pours a pitch black with a one finger tan head with nice lacing. Aroma is of freshly roasted earthy and nutty coffees, dark and milk chocolate, molasses, caramel, roasted malts, light vanilla and some burnt brown sugar. Taste is of earthy and nutty coffee, bakers/dark and milk coco, caramel, anise, vanilla, soy, burnt sugar, and some mild hop bitterness. Has a medium-full body with a creamy, slightly oily mouthfeel and a moderately bitter, lingering long, roasty finish. Overall, a excellent imperial stout that features some very nice coffee and chocolate very nicely.

Dark brown with a light brown head. Nice thick head with sturdy lacing. Smells of chocolate and lightly burned coffee. Can really taste the chocolate in this - oaky finish, very balanced. Good density, well carbonated for a stout and coats the mouth well. Very good overall.

Poured oily black with khaki head into a snifter. Dark roasted coffee with a touch of chocolate and oats on the nose. Taste starts very chocolatey and you get the coffee and oats on the finish. I enjoy founders’ other stouts (esp KBS) but this one is right up there. A great stout.

Bottle from Archive Beer Boutique August 2013. Yet another great beer from Founders. Deep black in colour with burnt slightly smokey aroma and a flavour that doesn’t leave you wondering.

Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. This inky black beer pours with a bright brown coloured head. It has very rich chocolate and roasted floral coffee flavours with a red fruity and milk chocolate, coffee finish. Excellent!

Black coffee in color with a deep mocha foam head that’s about one finger high. Foam head fades leaving spotty lacing down the sides of my goblet. Looks to have average carbonation but difficult to prove. Aroma is of black coffee chocolate roasted maybe even burnt malts and a touch of vinilla creaminess Dark black coffee and chocolate are the predominate taste here, followed by smokey and roasted malts. You can pick-up a subtle vanilla flavor too. A full bodied beer here no doubt which coats the mouth with a sweet smoothness. A bit bitter at end that leaves a coffee aftertaste. Extremely flavorful that would be go for chocolate type deserts of some sort. Strong flavor would prevent me from drinking too many, but definely would drink several.

Thank you so much much for this, Sarry! Opaque, black color, with a decent beige head, vanishing within seconds. Stunning aromas of fresh pressed coffee, creating a fantastic, intense nose. Also, sweeter malts and bitter chocolate are recognizable, but in no way comparable to the inviting, beer-defining coffee aroma. Taste is much more complex, with subtle hints of smoke among bread, toasted malts with sweeter chocolate and bitter, complex coffee, coated up by a generous amount of cream. This leads to an enjoyable, medium-body. The whole taste impression is very harmonic from the first moment it hits the palate. Carbonation fits great, adds a subtle freshness, which sweetens the chocolate in the midst of a whole lot of cream. Uprising chocolate-sweetness gets perfectly quenched by a coffee bitterness, which has the exact same intensity, leading to an outstanding balance. The finish is defined by bready malts, and fresh coffee beans, resulting in an enjoyable, earthy bitterness, which sticks for a long time.

UPDATED: JUL 30, 2014 Bottle from a trade, thanks Artmcd8! Black colour, beige foam. Medium carbonation. Aroma of roasted malts with notes of coffee and dark chocolate. Very well balanced. Bitter finish. Nice stout!
