COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
You’ve got to love coffee to truly appreciate this phenomenal brew. Brewed with an abundance of flaked oats, bitter and sweetened imported chocolates, Sumatra and Kona coffee. We’re actually not sure if this is some type of coffee cake or a beer. Either way you can drink this ale with a fork. Breakfast Stout has an intense fresh roasted coffee nose toped with a cinnamon colored frothy head that seems to never fade and makes you wish breakfast could last forever.

12oz bottle. Pours thick, dark brown/black with a thin but persistent tan head. Aroma: chocolate-covered espresso beans. There are some notes of toffee, malts, molasses, and subtle fruit, too. Flavor: chocolate and espresso, through and through - like a Nestle Crunch bar with coffee ice cream. The end has a mild earhty bitterness - inviting and bittersweet. The finish is hoppy bitter underneath waves of more chocolate and coffee. The mouthfeel is full and very creamy with mesmerizing bubbles. Overall - crazy delicious.

UPDATED: FEB 5, 2012 Tap pours black worth khaki head. Aromas is strong of coffee, some dark rotated malt. The taste is big on coffee and heavy roasted malt. The brew has a little chocolate but the grain is roasted near burnt with a smooth oatmeal grain to mellow it. I would say it goes down easy but it takes some time too. Very earthy hopped and heavy on grain too. In the finish after the grain and coffee subdue there is a hint of yeasty fruity flavors, dark fruit that added just a little more depth to the beer.

12 oz bottled on 11/01/11. Pours a thick black with a light coffee colored tan head. Big coffee and chocolatey aromas. Smells delicious. Good god, this beer is like drinking a good cup o joe. Quite enough bitterness that it’s like drinking black coffee. Good chocolate and oat flavors coming through . Simply delicious. Just keeps getting better and better as it warms. Thick and full bodied. This beer is just a pleasure a to drink. I want one for breakfast.

On tap. The aroma is of fresh ground coffee, remarkably so, in fact. The beer came with a one-finger head and produced good lacing. Chocolate and coffee are the predominant flavors. A truly well made beer. Very interesting and worth a try. I could actually imagine myself having one of these for breakfast.

Pours pitch black with very faint fizz. Smells phenomenal: strong chocolate and coffee notes pour out of the glass. Taste follows the nose perfectly, strong chocolate, both bitter and sweet, and coffee flavors abound from this spectacular brew. Full-bodied with a smooth, velvety texture and no mouth-carbonation, Founders Breakfast Stout finishes like a slice of heaven.

Pours black in the glass with a beige head. Aroma is all coffee. Reminds me of Speedway Stout from Alesmith but not quite as big. Taste is more coffee with some roasted fruits. Creamy texture.
