COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
You’ve got to love coffee to truly appreciate this phenomenal brew. Brewed with an abundance of flaked oats, bitter and sweetened imported chocolates, Sumatra and Kona coffee. We’re actually not sure if this is some type of coffee cake or a beer. Either way you can drink this ale with a fork. Breakfast Stout has an intense fresh roasted coffee nose toped with a cinnamon colored frothy head that seems to never fade and makes you wish breakfast could last forever.

Poured so dark from the 12oz. bottle the lights went dim and the glass topped with a huge four-finger, foamy, dark beige head, with godly resilience and thick coated lacing around the edges of my tumbler: Aroma of oats, raw cereal malts, hazelnut, subtle hints of cinnamon, and alcohol. When the head dissipates some, I get a ton of sweetened chocolate, chewy toffee, crystallized ginger, definitely dark roasted malts, coffee mixed with skim milk, and some earthworm. Rich layers of sweet chocolate take the palate upfront, as well as the feeling of taking a pure shot of bitter espresso at the back of the tongue. An enjoyable and subtly persistent heat of alcohol warms when going down the hatch. Drinkability: One of the few heavy chocolate stouts out there that I can imagine chugging (or at least heavily downing). Pairing: Chocolate syrup drizzled on a seven layer chocolate bread pudding concoction. Rebuy: Yes. #470 on 05072010, DG.

12 oz bottle. Pours black. Tan head, almost no lacing. Aroma is low-acid coffee, chocolate, cream. Flavor is much the same, with roasted malt. Very well balanced. Creamy finish. A great beer for a great coffee lover.

World class stout. Poured into a dogfish goblet. Two and a half inches of mocha foam that receded, but, never went away completely. The coffee is in your face from the first sniff to the back of your palate. A bit of chocolate and sour dark fruits. The alcohol hides, until the end, as the glass empties, the alcohol makes it’s presence known in olfactory and the mouth. This is my kind of beer.

11/10/2007 3:11:48 PM #800. Bottle in Northfield, Mass. As a coffee addict I have been looking forward to this one. Mud brown colour. Healthy head. Smells oaky with chocolate and coffee flavours. Really strong taste of coffee and chocolate. Malty. Smooth, creamy for a long-time. Ends a bit sharper--then dries up. Very nice. Would get higher score if choco/coffee wasn’t so overpowering and had more prounounced texture.

Black beer with a easy formation of tan head. Very nice lacework. Aroma has dark coffee notes with chocolate, wood and burnt malts. Flavour is toasty, roasty, smooth, with moccha hints, dark chocolate and a final moderate bittery. Dense on palate with a dark coffee aftertaste. Carbonation is soft to medium.

Keg at The London Craft Beer Festival. A black colour with a frothy mocha head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee, slight vanilla, subtle smoke and some oatmeal. Taste of roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee, slight vanilla, subtle toffee and a little prune. Full bodied and a smooth texture. A deep, roasted coffee bitterness in the finish. A full bodied, full on roasted coffee and chocolate stout, so rich and smooth too. These guys know how to brew a great stout.

Chocolate chocolate chocolate! In the bouquest up front, in the first sip, middle palaeye and long finish. Hints of coffee and vanilla with very subtle bitterness to balance it somewhat (still sweet). Magic!
