4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured so dark from the 12oz. bottle the lights went dim and the glass topped with a huge four-finger, foamy, dark beige head, with godly resilience and thick coated lacing around the edges of my tumbler: Aroma of oats, raw cereal malts, hazelnut, subtle hints of cinnamon, and alcohol. When the head dissipates some, I get a ton of sweetened chocolate, chewy toffee, crystallized ginger, definitely dark roasted malts, coffee mixed with skim milk, and some earthworm. Rich layers of sweet chocolate take the palate upfront, as well as the feeling of taking a pure shot of bitter espresso at the back of the tongue. An enjoyable and subtly persistent heat of alcohol warms when going down the hatch. Drinkability: One of the few heavy chocolate stouts out there that I can imagine chugging (or at least heavily downing). Pairing: Chocolate syrup drizzled on a seven layer chocolate bread pudding concoction. Rebuy: Yes. #470 on 05072010, DG.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours jet black with a huge mocha head which recedes to a foamy layer. Aroma is dominated by coffee, dark chocolate and some dried fruits - raisins, figs. Rich dark chocolate, coffee bitterness, slight vanilla sweetness and some roastiness is picked up in the taste. Full bodied with a decadent mouthfeel.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Stunned to find I’ve not rated this. Bottle. Nose is fresh, fresh coffee, slight vanilla a little woodiness and a little smoke. Taste is coffee, vanilla, a little coco, an earthy note from the oats, emerging smoke in the finish, a touch of spice and pepper. Slight dates note underneath.
It’s a mature classic.

I was disappointed when I found out this was only a seasonal beer. I really wanted this to be my year round go to beer.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
From a 12 oz bottle with bottle date 10/14/14. Consumed Halloween night. Pours dark dark brown, light coming through at the sides, two finger cinnamon head. I could smell the coffee immediately after cracking the cap. So much coffee in the nose, the coffee just dominates everything else. Slightly roasty, just a tinge of alcohol, but not so much chocolate. Taste follows the nose, bitter coffee, a very little bit of alcohol, the chocolate sweetens it up a little bit, but the thing there I can’t shake is this underripe green pepper flavor. Maybe that’s the coffee. I don’t know, but I don’t necessarily like it. Still pretty good. Medium bodied, I was expecting something fuller. As a guy who doesn’t drink coffee, I wasn’t sure if this was worth it, but it’s still pretty good.

Strong beer but not a strong imp stout. Very drinkable for the style, but nevertheless has rich buque.

Svart med lavt espressofarget skum. Aromaen er kaffe og malt. Smaken er mild kaffe, sjokolade og mørk malt. Fløyelsmyk. Tykk konsistens, mild bitterhet i ettersmaken.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from Good Spirits Co. in Glasgow.
Pours almost black with a medium, tan head.
Lovely aroma of coffee and malts.
Tastes of coffee and dark, silky chocolate. Chocolate is more prominent in the finish.
Very thick, oily mouthfeel. A bit like drinking a liquidised coffee and chocolate smoothie.
Basically, delicious. One of the best beers I’ve ever tasted.

4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark black pour with creamy brown head. Nose is heavy coffee, the most I’ve ever encountered in a beer! I love stout and I love coffee, so this thing is kind of a no-brainer. The flavor doesn’t disappoint. Found myself thinking I should add cream and sugar. This is one serious coffee stout!
