But this beer deserves it. Had it on tap. Pours dark as night with good chocolaty head. flavour is very bold with bourbon at the forefront rounded out with choc and coffee undertones that round it out nicely worth the wait

Trade at the Swamp Head release from burg326. HUGE thanks and still feel the need to send some additional studf his way soon. Pours from the 750 ml thick, black and viscous. A one finger brown creamy head forms at the top and lingers for a good while. Big bourbon vanilla aroma that mellows into bittersweet chocolate and then earthy spicy coffee. Taste is big up front chocolate syrup and slight bourbon followed by maple (did not fade in this bottle as others have said), and ending with spicy coffee beans. Earthy mocha lingering on the palate with the maple sweetness. These flavors blend together so seamlessly. Mouthfeel is thick thick thick with lowish carbonation. The bourbon is there but doesn't take over and the coffee ite keeps this from being too sweet. I was worried about being disappointed with this but I am not. What a world class brew.

Pours thick and black with a thick tan head. Nose is big vanilla, big whiskey, wood, coconut, chocolate, maple. Amazing complexity! The taste is high sweet and no bitter. Dessert. The body is heavy, texture is like chocolate cream and finish is long.

A - Pours a fairly dark into the bottle. Not insanely dark and oily as you’d expect for a big stout. Nice 1 finger chocolate cover head that fades and leaves behind a bit of bubbles and some alcohol legs
S - Doing this side by side with regular kegs from 2011. Smells sweet like fresh melted chocolate with a tad hint of maple.. it’s not a maple as I expected. Hint of Peet, walnuts and liquor but not boozey
T - Very smooth, not boozy, nice balance of roasted barley, coffee acidic and maple. but everything seems pretty muted..it’s not fresh anymore so I guess that’s to be expected but really nice balance between every aspect. Cedar chips are present and some chestnut sweetness.
M - Heavy body, very light balanced carbonation, loving the maple syrup liqueur finish. very sweet but the remaining coffee balances it out
O - Yeah, this was very special to have, certainly a lot of the big flavors I expected are way faded but it’s a nice treat and very delicious.

22oz bottle. Another great bottle share on a warm Sunday afternoon. Thanks Adam! Nose is a maple sugar, bacon and light malty wood type notes. Small brown head retains for the entire glass. Bourbon in the flavor not very apparent after it has been sitting this amount of time. caramel, light bitter coffee, light traces of maple syrup. The flavors are subtle and complex.Every time I take a sip I get different flavor combinations. Secondary notes of vanilla, oak and sweet molasses. For me it’s sweet but would never call it cloying. This is a wonderful stout and I would say if you have it and haven’t had it, drink it. I’m real sure it’s at peak flavor or starting to fall off slowly. This is great and shouldn’t be held any longer. Cheers and bottoms up!

bottle. black pour, medium to fuller body. big notes of wood, licorice, bourbon. Packs a punch. lots of complexity. anise/licorice stands out more than maple. Very impressive

Bottle shared by an unnamed source. Aroma is coffee, roast wood and licorice. Pours black with a creamy head. Taste is sweet with caramel, then roast coffee and anis. Slight wet cardboard so I think this bad boy is starting to spoil. Finishes with a nice roast coffee. CBS on a bad day is still great.

UPDATED: APR 13, 2013 This was my top want so this is a treat. Thanks for the trade marine 1975. Vigorous pour creates a tan head that retains a foam. Dark dark pour. Slight metallic aroma. Goes away as it warms. Some oak in the aroma. All remnants of coffee have disappeared. Still has the sweetness of maple in the taste. Like an old KBS with maple sweetness. Mellowed out over the years. Still good but I’m sure this was awesome when fresh. Tried with a vert of BS, KBS, and CBS.

Bottle thanks to artmcd8. Tasted next to BS and KBS. Poured black with light tan head. Mild aromas of alcohol and bourbon. Burnt sweet chocolate flavors. As it heated up to room temp could discern more flavors such as maple and malts. Time has killed the hype. Would love to try it fresh.
