This was the first beer I drank during the 2010 Ratebeer Summer Gathering. Good place to start. Served on draft at Founders Brewing Company. Pours a pitch black color with a medium brown head. Good head retention and lacing. Big maple notes in the aroma with chocolate and bourbon. The taste is chocolate, caramel, maple, coffee and a bitter leafy hop finish. Full bodied. Very nice beer.

Botella. Kindly shared by Plovmand who got it in a trade with bulldogp04. Huge thanks. Pitch black colour, small creamy light brown head. Aroma has lots of coffee along with roasted malt and chocolate, very nice indeed. Thick sticky pleasant mouthfeel. Sweet flavour, plenty of coffee (bitter), deep roasted malt, dark fruit, bit wood, just lovely. Served with one damn great tasting chocolate cake! (thanks Anker). Great brew indeed!

Tap at DLD. Pours a black color with a tan head. Aroma is a great mix of coffee, chocolate, roast and maple syrup. The flavor is a tad sweeter than I would have expected but I loved it!!! Maple, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, and the alcohol is hidden in this brew!!

650ml bottle I brought @ ZZT III. [from trade with Jeffo1] Tasted side by side with the Founders BS. Pitch black opaque color, full sized light brown head. Smell malts, dark malts, roastyness, a lot of dark chocolate. Taste malts, dark and roasted malts, again a lot of dark chocolate, alcohol, bitter, mocca, vanilla, lightly molasses. Round taste, not as complex as I expected, bit sticky taste. Soft carbo, medium to full body.
