Bottle at USA comes to Skövde. Pitch black beer with a small but nice brownish head. Peat aroma, coffee, hay, dark chocolate, soot, quite roasted, cocoa powder, vanilla, milk notes, caramel, whiskey, licorice, spicy, some floral notes and some licorice. Roasted coffee flavor, whisky, peat, hay, soot, ash, vanilla, sweetish, spicy, chilli, dry woody, alcohol, menthol, tar. Very nice mouthfeel and with a finish that brings heavy chocolate, peat, hay and licorice.

Bottle with duct tape label "CBS!!!" courtesy of tarheels86, to whom I owe a debt of gratitude. Almost completely black, very small large bubble edge head, shotty lacing. Aroma of unsweetened chocolate syrup, vanilla beans and cocoa. Taste is sweet, syrupy Hersheys bar with cinnamon, roasted coffee. Very nice.

Poured a translucent dark brown nearly black with a small lingering brown head. Aromas of coffee, bitter chocolte, light oak light vanilla and a hint of maple. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of roasted malt, coffee, bitter chocolate, light oak, light vanilla and a hint of maple with a smooth lingering roasty coffee finish.

Bottle, my 5000th rating. Pours opaque with a medium, frothy tan head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is roast and chocolate malt, caramel notes, moderate coffee, prunes, dates, and licorice, light alcohol and maple notes. Flavor is dark malt, roast and chocolate, coffee with prunes and dates, light alcohol, sweet palate with a lightly dry finish. Full body, medium warmth and carbonation.

UPDATED: NOV 26, 2011 Bottle with Doodler and Co. Thanks everyone! Deep black appearance with a fluffy, dark brown head. Toasty, maple, caramel, toffee, dark chocolate aroma. Creamy, dark chocolate, maple, toffee, caramel malty flavor. Fuck this is good. Thanks again to whomever brought this!

Tap at DLD. Pours a black color with a tan head. Aroma is a great mix of coffee, chocolate, roast and maple syrup. The flavor is a tad sweeter than I would have expected but I loved it!!! Maple, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, and the alcohol is hidden in this brew!!

Hand bottle... This beer rocks!... Pours pitch black with very little head. The aroma is a luxuriant, velvety marriage of everything I enjoy in food, beverage and beer – vanilla, espresso, dark chocolate, whiskey and a touch of coconut with only a trace of maple syrup. Although rich and hearty, the nose isn’t in-your-face. It’s subtle and comforting and you almost have to dig for it. Full-bodied with a “heavy cream” mouthfeel and pillow-soft carbonation. The flavor is all about espresso, blackstrap molasses, pouch tobacco, chocolate and coconut. The relatively high ABV is not stand-up-and-shout hot; I feel it in my head before I really taste it in the beer – drinking on an empty stomach here. Balance is provided by a nice blend of dark malt sweetness and alcohol, hop, carbonic bitterness. The finish starts off acrid and sweet, then slowly fades to a pleasant, creamy, sweet coating of my palate. At this point, I’m certain my teeth are brown. Thanks so much to StFun for throwing this baby in the box as a bonus beer in our trade. A fantastic surprise!

Draft at the Craft Ale House (2 x 10oz glasses!). Poured a dark black color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of woodiness, earthy, some whiskey, chocolate, nutty, vanilla, and maple syrup. Tastes of chocolate, the same woodiness, lighter whiskey, vanilla, roasty, and chocolate. Lighter alcohol in the finish, but overall well hidden. This was pretty damn good and glad I had a few glasses of it!

A tasty beer, and credit for that, but I tell you up front coffee and maple syrup, both in huge abundance on top of their regular breakfast stout, is not my preferred choices. I would rather tuned up chocolate. Lots of true coffee, even the taste of creme (though I understand no real creme used). Very filling, the maple syrup seems added in. Above average mouthfeel,, though not as thick as one could imagine. Thanks to Mike at Champane’s for putting this one aside for me.
