4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 CincyBeercat (11) - Ohio, USA - FEB 3, 2012
Got on tap. Appeared to be a deep orange color but the bar was a little dark so it was hard to tell for sure.
Aroma was hugely floral with hints of citrus.
Taste followed suit - flowery, piney, earthy bitterness without being overbearing. Good solid texture, not too heavy, not too light. Could probably be a session IPA, though the 7+ % ABV would probably sneak up on you!

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 adamjackson (75) - Canaan, New Hampshire, USA - JAN 31, 2012
"This is the first Founders Beer I’ve ever had. Served for $7 at the Three Penny Taproom in Montpelier Vermont.
A - Deep amber. It looks like a lager but wit a red hue. The head was very thick and vanilla colored. It sticks around.
S - Lots of vanilla. Hints of honey. Super IPA smell which is always too much for my nose.
T - This is a great IBA. Crazy Great. Lots of plums, apples, sunflower seeds. Very bitter but a respectable IPA
M - Full bodied, super bubbly and filled every corner of my mouth with carbonation.
O - It’s a nice IPA. Almost too strong though.
I’m just not HUGE on IPAs. I appreciate them but I don’t love them. I know a good and bad IPA and this was great. Just know my rating is also based on IPAs not really being on my good side."
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 seymour (571) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - JAN 28, 2012
Tasted at the 2012 St. Louis Centennial Beer Festival from bottle into sampler glass. Poured a hazy amber color with great off-white foam, lasting with a little lace. Aromas of citrusy hops and caramel malt, some fruity ale yeast esters. Predictable IPA flavors. Well-concealed alcohol. Medium body. Well-rounded, "chewy" mouthfeel, lingering hoppy aftertaste (a bit gritty or dusty seeming, something I’ve noticed before with Centennial hops.) Tasty. Not overwhelmingly American or grapefruity in profile. Well done.

Deep amber with copius head. Big skunky citrus hops and sweet caramel malt. Flavor is brief caramel malt sweetness finishing with resounding citrus hop flavor and trailing out with a bitter dry finish.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 VTHopHead (1327) - Barre, Vermont, USA - JAN 22, 2012
Bottle/12oz - Pours a darkish orange amber in color with a medium white head that settled to a thin covering over the top of the beer and produced some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is slightly sweet with plenty of caramel malts and some bready yeasts. The star is, of course the citrus/grapefruit and milder of pine resin hops. Flavor is hoppy, but not nearly as bitter as I expected from the aroma. Nice hop flavor... lingering mild bitterness into the end... extremely well balanced. Love it...
