Selected as a benchmark for the Beer Judge Certification Program used in all American based beer judgings. Centennial IPA has quickly become the IPA of choice. Pour yourself a pint of this complex flavorful ale and bask in the frothy head’s floral bouquet. Relish the immense citrus accents, achieved by the abundance of dry hopping. This ale’s sweet, malty undertones balance the hop character with a finish that never turns too bitter.

Pours a burnt orange / amber with a nice beige head. Aroma of sweet citrus fruitiness with some floral hops, and some sweet malts. Taste is citrusy floral hops with some caramel malts. Palate is nice med to full bodied, with very good carbonation. Finish is citrusy hops, some fruitiness followed by sweet caramel malts to take the edge off the hoppiness, ending with a dry nutty bitter sweetness. Overall a very nicely balanced IPA.

Awesom hop aroma. Great cloudy amber color. For an IPA, the hops are strong, but not too pwoerful with a sweet aftertaste.

The aroma of this beer is so wonderful. Smells exactly how an IPA should, at least in my opinion. The nice lively bitterness really wakes up the tongue with a nice bitter finish.

bottled. pours golden amber, with a minimal head. aromas similar to most IPAs--grass, spruce and grapefruit. well balanced beer with the taste of alcohol in the forefront. a bit sweet and bitter at the same time. smooth bitter finish that lasts.

The eponymously hopped beer from Founders provides a bracing IPA flavor in the American tradition. A (presumably) single-hopped expression of an IPA, Centennial provides a palate orientation to the flavors of the hop. The approach has a cognate in the art of Piet Mondrian’s neo-plasticism. Brewing a beer with only one hop seems so simple, and yet it turns out so complex at the same time.

Poured about a half finger worth of head which left nice thick and messy lacing on the sides of the glass. Color is a very clear copper. Aroma is heavy on the floral and slightly resiny hops, with a little bit of buttery sweetness as well. The taste has a rich bouquet of floral hops, with some floral and earthy hops making an appearance on the aftertaste. The backbone has a fair bit of malts, which give this a strong taste of dough-like sweetness which balance out the otherwise strong hops. A superb example of the style.

Tap at founders beer dinner at the iron Abbey. Hoppy, bitter, citrus, little bit if sweetness. Strong aftertaste.
