3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Iíve enjoyed this in bottles many times, but recently got another chance to sample on tap at Lunar Brewing Co., and then found that I had never posted a review. Dispensed to a shaker with a coppery amber hue, decent off white head foam, and clingy curtains that reduced to dots and dashes of lacing. The nose was a pleasant mixture of resin, fruit, citrus, and smooth malt, a little grassiness, and just enough malt sweetness to mellow any sharp astringency in the flavor. Nice alcohol presence, medium body, and good balance. I agree wholeheartedly with the benchmark status.

Good beer for a great brewery. The hop flavor has a big piney taste that is very refreshing.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle: I found this in some little corner NY deli! I found many of the little corner grocery/deli stores have a smattering of good micros in them. This one has a dark copper look with a small off-white head.. The aroma is large hops, celery and some harsh household cleaners. The flavor is dominated by alcohol and the hops have a sort of harsh perfume in the taste and aftertaste. The body is full with a prolonged bitterness in the aftertaste. Solid IPA.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A clear reddish amber colored beer with a medium white head that fades to just a small crown. The aroma is very nice, with grassy, citrus, peach, and melon notes. The flavor is very fruity, lots of pine and citrus, with a mild hops bitterness and a pretty good palate. Like most Founders beers, exceptionally good.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours brownish orange with a nice 1" thick white head. Smells of pine, grapefruit, mango, caramel malt and grass. Pine, grapefruit, lemon and floral notes come through on the bitter end but this also has a great malt profile. Mouthfeel is medium and finish is long citrus and pine bitter.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A hazy, golden orange pour results in a light but frothy head with nice lacing that follows. floral and citrus notes with hops for days. Bitterness from cirus/hop combo is complimented nicely by the malty sweetness. Nice bitter tingle on the tounge and sweet finish make it easy to drink.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle, pours hazy orange-amber with thick, fizzy head that never completely goes away. Nose is massively hoppy, but the caramel malt presence levels it out nicely. Same with the taste: hop explosion on the tongue, with orange, clementine, some peach and slight pine rounding things out. Very crisp mouthfeel, very slight tingle-burn in the finish. Does nothing to hide the ABV, and I like that! Reminds me of a more bitter Two Hearted Ale. Very nice.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very impressed with this one. Medium head with tons of lacing. Lots of little bubbles and an amber color. Aroma is floral with the malt hiding in the background. Medium body, slightly oily with a bitter finish that lingers, but not too long. Taste is is a mixture of sweetness and bitterness in balance. I prefer a lighter bodied IPA, but this isnít bad at all.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A: The beer pours a light amber/dark orange color with a frothy off-white head and nice lacing.
S: Citrus hops with a strong woody, piney character. Some lightly sweet and bready malts. A little bit of grass in there, too. Most of the citrus is grapefruit, which becomes more pronounced as the beer warms.
T: Big time bitterness from the grapefruit peel and pine hop notes. A lot of toasted bread malt flavor in the background, which I found sort of surprising.
M: Medium in body with a medium carbonation and a lingering bitterness.
O: Good, but not as good as some of the other Founders IPAs that Iíve had (namely Double Trouble and Harvest Ale).

3.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sample at a tasting at IlliniSmittyís house, poured through a home-made randall. Aroma was sweet citrus, flavor was light, bitter, flowery (hibiscus). Nice and really pleasant.
