COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Selected as a benchmark for the Beer Judge Certification Program used in all American based beer judgings. Centennial IPA has quickly become the IPA of choice. Pour yourself a pint of this complex flavorful ale and bask in the frothy head’s floral bouquet. Relish the immense citrus accents, achieved by the abundance of dry hopping. This ale’s sweet, malty undertones balance the hop character with a finish that never turns too bitter.

I bought a couple bottles online just to see what these Midwest IPA’s are like. The color was dark orange (almost brown) with a very nice head. there was a slight citrus component to the smell. The taste seemed very balanced between malt and hop. I was kinda expecting a hop-bomb but this was still a very solid IPA. The website touted it as "the rich man’s Two-Hearted" and I did enjoy it more than the two-hearted I drank just prior. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 04-04-2007 16:01:33

Bottled. @ Beer Temple Amsterdam. The aroma has grapefruit, orange peel. Slightly hazy, orange coloured beer with an off-white head. The taste is bitter, carbonated, citric. Quite harsh, sharp.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours cloudy dark orange with a small, off-white and creamy head. Aroma is slight soapy, crisp peachy, grassy and vague spiced. Sweet fruity, light peachy and light caramelish sweet flavoured. Dry and bitter towards the end with a mild grassy touch. Vague soapy note. Rather dry and bitter finish.

UPDATED: JAN 16, 2010 15-JAN-2010, bottle @home, from "Fish & Beer". Pours orange with fine white head. The nose is - IPA, well not just any IPA. This is fantastic. Very bitter, grape fruits, oranges, pineapples, but also some slightly roasted notes from the malt. A little thin on the palate, but otherwise almost IIPA-like wiht the heavy malt presence to balance the immense hop amount. Very long, very bitter aftertaste with a fine medium carbonation. Certainly one of the best IPA’s I have ever had. Never had a boring Founders. They are not like some of the other breweries that just try to make stronger beers, they always give the style an edge. Thank you, Founders:)

Bottle. Hazy light amber color pour with a slight head that went away quickly. Great strong hoppy taste that’s not overly bitter. Hoppy, floral with hints of citrus. A great IPA.

The aroma one this IPA is full of hop resins, a little floral notes, and some nice caramel doughy malts. The appearance is a hazy orange color with a fluffy initial head, that slithers down the side of the glass into a nice slice of white head. The taste is a very complex overlay of light sweetness disguised under the oily resin and hop note moderate bitterness. The body is medium - leaning towards light with an oily texture that has an adequate carbonation and a nicely balanced buttery bitter finish. Great IPA

Being that centennial hops are one of my favorites...this beer is quite tasty. Aroma and flavor are packed with citrus and pine....as well as a nice malt backbone. Great session IPA!

Orangeish pour with slight white head. Hoppy aroma of malts, citrus, and lemon. Tangerine comes more in the flavor which is sweet and not too carbonated. Finish is slightly bitter but not too bad. Smooth IPA.
