Selected as a benchmark for the Beer Judge Certification Program used in all American based beer judgings. Centennial IPA has quickly become the IPA of choice. Pour yourself a pint of this complex flavorful ale and bask in the frothy head’s floral bouquet. Relish the immense citrus accents, achieved by the abundance of dry hopping. This ale’s sweet, malty undertones balance the hop character with a finish that never turns too bitter.

Bottle. Glowing amber with a medium-sized off-white head. The aroma is of sweet caramel, vanilla, pine-needles and fading citric and grassy hops. The taste is more of the same. Sweet vanilla caramel and a full sticky mouthfeel. Noticeable but fading grapefruit and citric hop notes. The finish is bitter and chewy with some malts and floral hops. Good, but I doubt this bottle was very fresh. Had potential of being better.

This beer poured a copper color with a white head. The aroma contains some caramel, perfume, pine, and grapefruit, The flavor is bitter and complex but not over the top. Well balanced and the perfect session beer. You heard it here first!

Bottle from Winking Lizard. Best smelling IPA I’ve come across. Reminds me of a 90-minute, as it is a good blend between malt and hops. Nice, dark, non-pisslike appearance.

Pours up a medium brown with a very foamy head. Very bitter, with only a mild scent. It leaves a very dry taste in your mouth.

Medium offwhite head. Hazy amber body. Strong strawy tropical fruit aroma with grassy alcohol notes. Dry-sweetish tropical fruit, alcohol, and paper taste with grassy mealy notes. Mid-bodied. Sharpish, astringent mouthfeel. Dry-bitter papery toffee aftertaste with lingering tropical fruit and wax notes. Nice, but perhaps a bit old? (0.355l bottle, Systembolaget, Stockholm.)

Pine / citrus aroma, grapefruit. Light copper-colored, very slight haze. Small dense off-white head w/ decent retention. Lots of carbonation. Some oily lacing. Tastes like it smells: Flowers, citrus fruit, pine. Velvety mouthfeel, medium body. Fruity / dry finish. Founders does it again!

Pours orange/yellow with little to no head. Decent lacing with a crazy amount of carbonation. Aroma is of oranges, pine, flowers, citrus... all in all pretty normal for an IPA. Taste is strong on the citrus and leads into a dominant hoppy finish. Very good representation of an IPA.
