COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Selected as a benchmark for the Beer Judge Certification Program used in all American based beer judgings. Centennial IPA has quickly become the IPA of choice. Pour yourself a pint of this complex flavorful ale and bask in the frothy head’s floral bouquet. Relish the immense citrus accents, achieved by the abundance of dry hopping. This ale’s sweet, malty undertones balance the hop character with a finish that never turns too bitter.

Source: 12 oz bottle purchased from Greenwood Spirits in Bowling Green.
Glass: Poured into a Perfect Pint from Sam Adams.
Appearance: Clear amber/orange with a two finger, bubbly white head.
Aroma: Floral and citrus hops dominate. Didn’t find much malt in the nose.
Flavor: Solid malt base with huge citrus in the finish.
Palate: Medium body with solid carbonation and a clean, almost slick mouthfeel.
Overall: Very good IPA. Doesn’t rank up with Two Hearted and Alesmith, but very good.

Bottle. Pours a clear copper/orange with a medium fizzy white head. Aroma pops with sweet and floral hops, orange, and grapefruit. Flavor is much the same with a nice and not too bitter finish. Finishes smooth. Very drinkable. I enjoyed this one quite a bit.

UPDATED: JUL 8, 2009 Bottle pour. Copper color with a frothy white head that had great retention and left a strong lace on the sides of the glass. Smells like floral hops and tastes a little like grapefruit. Lots of carbonation and very filling. Solid brew.

This is an absoutely fantastic IPA! I made the discovery that is the Centennial IPA on draft at the Craft Ale House in Limerick, PA. It was so good, that I went back to the pub the next day and got a growler of it. From start to finish, this beer explodes with flavor and character. The aroma is full of hops, pine, citrus and grapefruit. The body is smooth, balanced and extremely drinkable. The flavors were absoutely outstanding, with a big hoppy note up front a delicious malty backbone. There are subtle hints of bread and caramel in the body to add balance and flavor. Other flavors include dry grapefruits, pine, grass and a little lemon. The head is off-white in color and leaves some nice lacing around the glass. The color of the beer itself is a beautiful and clear copper color. This IPA finishes spicy, hoppy and a little dry, but with some nice sweetness. This is an absoutely outstanding IPA! It’s definitely one of the best that I’ve ever sampled. I need more!

12oz. Bottle. About time some offerings from this brewery made their way into the DC area. This beer pours a ruddy orange color with a medium lacing white head. Nose is highly floral with prominent citrus notes. Flavor tends towards a robust hoppy bitterness, but is well balanced by the malt. Some grapefruit notes and crystal malt in the flavor profile. Carbonation is persistent. Mouthfeel is sticky and somewhat resinous, but not at all syrupy. Finish is dry, hoppy and lingering. Highly drinkable IPA.

Pours a hazy golden with an off white head. The head diminshes quickly, but produces decent lacing. Aroma of citrus and pine with a floral touch. Has good carbination and mouthfeel. A good blending and the alcohol is well hidden. Has a good bitterness. An oily texture. A medium body. A solid finish with a good aftertaste. This is a pretty good IPA.

Pours a nice cloudy orange with an off white head and decent lacing. Aroma of flowers, citrus and pine. Nice grapefruit and hoppy (did I mention hoppy?) taste. Floral aftertaste was jjust right... solid brew by Founders - not that I expected any less.

Aroma of exotic flowers and pine. On the palate the citrus is overpowering with a resiny pine finish. This is a nice spicy ipa with great bitterness. I really enjoy the hop regimen they used here.

Bottle. Pleasant citrus and pine aroma with mild caramel and toast background. Clear amber-ruby with lots of carbonation up to a lasting, thick white head. Very balanced with a strong malt presence and well-rounded hop character providing both bitterness and a mild pine and orange peel flavor. Very full-bodied.
