3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a clearish amber copper color. Plenty of sediment in the bottom, of which I tried to prevent going in my glass, but still I see a little sea monkeyish thing going on inside with the yeast and the carbonation. The head is a thin layer of off-white dense sticky foam with lacing that climbs up the glass with its sticky surface tension. The nose is very fresh and citrusy, as grassy and fresh as centennial should be. It has a strong orange zest punch that almost annoys your nose with its persistence, but in the end itís enjoyable. The flavor is very balanced, an initial floral and resinous hop note melds with your palate then the sweet malts wash away any note of that then the bitterness lightly creeps up as the liquid is already on its way home. The finish is nice and grassy, a touch of alcohol notes and a bit of musky hop and syruppy malt. Itís a fine IPA, borderline double, with no lack of hoppiness. Lovely fodder to have in any fridge. Thanks to whoever I got this from!

Pours a hazy golden orange color producing an enormous, fluffy soap bubbly-like head. Great head retention and lacing throughout the glass. Classic Centennial hop nose dominates with a crisp blast of pine and fresh orange rind. Some mild caramel malt notes sneak their way through in the aroma also. Lively carbonation on the tongue followed by a pleasant slick, slighly oily mouthfeel. Extremely well balanced flavor profile between the malts and hops. Flavor starts out with a notable creamy caramel candy sweetness, but quickly transcends to a crisp, lip-smacking, citrusy hop resin moderate bitterness. Nice long bitter-sweet finish on the back of the tongue. An admirable American IPA!!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hey this is Two Hearted Ale, only with more hop aroma, less body, a touch less carbonation and a little darker color. Tasted side by side with TH, this beer presents less harsh resins in the smack. Aroma is a glowering fist of Cascade-esque Centennial. Sugary sweet and full of blossoming pine power. A ruddy tinged amber, topped with a creamy off-white. Flavor is a scrumptous pine body, followed with sage dust, orange juice and grapefruit rind. A little uncarbonated for me, but very tasty. Somehow, I still like TH better, with a more perfusive bubbly character, lighter blond body for a hop heavy beer and the punishing careen of hop resins. This founders seems much too relaxed to be a real deal American IPA.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
WOW! This brew wanted to be unleashed! The slightest pressure from the opener and the cap popped off! Whips were escaping everywhere from the mouth, I immediately feared an overflow. But, it sudsided and I only poured about a quarter of the bottle before my New Belgium bulb filled to the rim with a rocky, clinging, cavernous off white head. It finally sudsided to reveal an amazing nose. With still about a finger of head, the aroma has notes of 7-up citrus, floral, oranges and caramel, So far this is really nice from all angles. The palate doesnít dissapoint. Medium to full bodied with a sticky sweetness and a bitter tingling finish. Good enough balance for a style totally accented towards the hops. The malts are caramel and tasty. Lively and carbonated as all get out! Second glass got well more than half the beer into the glass before the mountainous head took over. This is really good. The palate is so smooth until the last minute then the bitter hops smack you around, but itís short lived and the residual finish is light toffee and citrus. Finally..the dregs. The last quarter still produced three fingers of head. And the mucky sediment is just trapped in the bottom of the glass. The head still smells of syrupy 7-Up. Peppery, spicy flavor. This has all the components of a supreme IPA! Much to my liking because the victorious abundant hops still allow the mild malts to sweeent and lighten the bitterness! This is a champion!

Thanks Arnie!! Dark orange pour with a thick, beige head, with plenty of hops, roses and lemongrass in the nose, finishes clean. A very good sample of the style.

12 oz bottle pours golden yellow and an over the top white head. Floral hopped aroma with a little bit of carmel. On the tongue its very carbonated and citrussy. Carmel undertones and a bitter hop finish. A simple IPA but tasty none the less.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Another great beer from Founders. I may not like the football in Michigan...but man do they know how to make beer there. This beer has a great floral hoppy smell with a hint of spicyness to it. Great aroma! The beer has an off white head that sticks around for quite a while, and the beer itself is a very nice copper gold color. Man do I love the centennial hop, it gives great characteristics to this beer. Very smooth on first sip backed by a good bitter hop presence, but not too much. Overall a very good ipa, a good example of centennial hops, and a good showcase of what the brewers in michigan are capable of.
