COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Selected as a benchmark for the Beer Judge Certification Program used in all American based beer judgings. Centennial IPA has quickly become the IPA of choice. Pour yourself a pint of this complex flavorful ale and bask in the frothy head’s floral bouquet. Relish the immense citrus accents, achieved by the abundance of dry hopping. This ale’s sweet, malty undertones balance the hop character with a finish that never turns too bitter.

Golden pour. Aroma is malty hop resin. Taste is sessional resinous bitterness with a very well hidden abv. Lingering malty bitterness. Decent IPA but not a massive fan of the maltier varieties of the style.

Copper color. Big caramel malty nose with moderate hoppiness. Big caramel malt backbone with pine and citrus notes. Definetely a maltier IPA, but pretty decent take on the style.

Tasted from bottle. Pours a nice copper color with tan head. Good lacing. Aroma of floral notes, citrus and tropical hops, caramel sweetness. Taste is superbly balanced. Caramel, toffee, brown auger malt backbone give it mild to moderate sweetness with some pine, floral and maybe a hint of citrus hop flavors giving it a clean consistent moderate bitterness. Excellent IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355mL bottle Beautiful copper gold body with a good inch of thick white head. Nose offers good quantity of hop & malt; pine needle, biscuit, grapefruit, toasted nuts, woody spice, light caramel. Full bodied, nice weight of malt to it, medium carbonation. Palate kicks off with plenty of biscuity, toasty malt, add a generous dose of tropical fruits, orange & grapefruit, leafy, piney woody spice to the mix, and a firm bitterness on a resiny finish, and you’ve got one damn fine IPA. Yum!

Pours a pale amber with a short ivory head diminishing rapidly to a thin skim, moderate lacing. Nose is bright grassy and floral hops, pineapple, grapefruit, bready caramel malt. Taste starts with light grassy hop, then sweet tropical fruit before the pine resin rounds it out. Medium body with moderate sustained carbonation with a sticky, lingering bitter resin finish. Very pleasant, balanced IPA. Except for the lingering finish, where the bitter takes over (and I don’t mean that negatively), the malt sweetness integrates beautifully with the hop bitter, both in the nose and on the tongue. Neither are overwhelming, and this is hoppy without being a hop bomb. The moderately high ABV is also well-integrated, becoming apparent only most of the way through the pint, as a gentle warming. I’d consider this a highly sessionable ale.

Served on-tap at Al’s of Hampden into a standard pint.

A - Pours clear amber orange with a nice pillow of one finger tall white head leaving light rings of lacing down the glass.

S - Smells of bright grassy hops, grapefruit and other citric fruit, slightly bready caramel malt, and just the faintest hint of booze.

T - Starts off with a nice grassy hop bite slowly giving way to a mix of tropical fruits and lots of sweetness from the caramel malt. As you drink the beer the sweetness seems to only get stronger, drowning out most of the other flavors. A touch of booze can be detected toward the end of each sip. Finish is a mix of strong sweetness and a touch of dulled citric hops.

M - Medium body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Resiny sweet feel with plenty of sweetness, combining with a touch of hop bitterness, in the finish.

O - Pretty good. I have always enjoyed this beer but it never gets to the point of being great. The hops tend to die down a bit too much toward the end, letting the sweetness creep in and dominate the finish.

Aroma is pine, floral, hops. Nice, soft. Look is Light orange. Small, but lasting. Taste is more pine, hops. Smooth. Lemon finish. Feel is crisp. Good carb. Very nice. My kind of IPA....which i’ve found is usually different than popular opinion.
