COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Selected as a benchmark for the Beer Judge Certification Program used in all American based beer judgings. Centennial IPA has quickly become the IPA of choice. Pour yourself a pint of this complex flavorful ale and bask in the frothy head’s floral bouquet. Relish the immense citrus accents, achieved by the abundance of dry hopping. This ale’s sweet, malty undertones balance the hop character with a finish that never turns too bitter.

Cannot believe this IPA is not in the top 5. The combination of dry hopping AND leaving it unflitered has forged the PERFECT..and I again I say to this day PERFECT IPA for me. The dry hopping here produces a nice "gumball" mouthfeel, while the unfiltered floaters root it diametrically to the earth. Wish I didn’t have to trek to Hudson, WI to get it. But I do...and will. Try it for yourself. I know raters here tend to rate higher the higher the ABV. Just remember this is an IPA not a Double IPA.

UPDATED: MAY 26, 2012 Simply outstanding IPA - very well-balanced on all accounts. The scent upon opening is wood-like, citrusy, and grassy, which is also exactly how the beer tastes. There’s definitely a good hops kick, but it’s not quite as bitter and powerful as the majority of IPAs I’ve tasted, so this drink is more than just a hops-kick, and there is nothing wrong with that. The beer pours to a copper color and doesn’t foam immediately, but gathers up within a few seconds to equal the size of the liquid poured. It takes several minutes for the head to evaporate. Of all the things here, I’m especially impressed with the aftertaste. There are a lot of beers out there that start out powerful, but don’t leave much of a lingering flavor. The lingering flavor of Founders Centennial IPA is such that the more grassy, wood-like notes still hold on for a decent amount of time after you’ve taken your sip, which I really like. Still tops in my top 5 IPAs of all-time, and I’ve had quite a few over the last couple of years. The more I have it, the more I am astounded by how well up it holds, and the more I search for flaws, the more I can’t find them. My perfect beer for ALL occasions - session, slow-tasting, whatever.

This is an absoutely fantastic IPA! I made the discovery that is the Centennial IPA on draft at the Craft Ale House in Limerick, PA. It was so good, that I went back to the pub the next day and got a growler of it. From start to finish, this beer explodes with flavor and character. The aroma is full of hops, pine, citrus and grapefruit. The body is smooth, balanced and extremely drinkable. The flavors were absoutely outstanding, with a big hoppy note up front a delicious malty backbone. There are subtle hints of bread and caramel in the body to add balance and flavor. Other flavors include dry grapefruits, pine, grass and a little lemon. The head is off-white in color and leaves some nice lacing around the glass. The color of the beer itself is a beautiful and clear copper color. This IPA finishes spicy, hoppy and a little dry, but with some nice sweetness. This is an absoutely outstanding IPA! It’s definitely one of the best that I’ve ever sampled. I need more!

Liquid bread. What more can I say? Everything I look for in an IPA, the cloudy orange color, floral aroma, big but not overpowering hop flavor and a finish that leaves me licking my chops! I’m making nmyself thirsty.

VERY tasty IPA. I absolutely love the citrus flavor that initially rolls across your taste buds (grapefruit and orange). Beautiful dark amber color with some tight lacing. Great overall hop flavor that blends perfectly with the citrus notes. Beautiful beer that you would love to introduce to your friend!. One of my new favorites1

In a tulip. A breath of fresh air IPA. Pours a dark, hazy orange (it’s unfiltered) with a magnificent off-white head and laces beautifully. Aroma of citrus and fresh flowers, like a greenhouse. Taste seems unique among IPAs. Citrus (but not grapefruit) like orange, but not as sweet, watermelon, fresh ginger...awesome. Finishes nicely bitter, kind of like rose water. This may be my new favorite.
