Youíll have a soft spot for this one. Using only fresh Michigan tart cherries, this beauty tantalizes with intense flavors combined with a no hesitation malt bill. Adding fresh cherries at five separate stages of fermentation achieves the ultimate balance between tartness and sweetness.

12 oz bottle served in pint glass. (From Jan. 2011 notes). Some sediment in bottom of bottle added to last 1/3 of sample - sediment improved flavor. Pours a clear golden tone with a tinge of pink/red and a modeast off-white head. Very nice fruity (cherry) aroma. Smells like real cherry juice; not artificial. Malt backbone in background. Nice sweet/tart balance with a low level (IBU = 15) bitterness. Excellent flavor but too mild and not quite as tart as Iíd like. On the other hand, the aftertaste is mainly a fruity (generic) sourness. M - medium/light body with little carbonation

Bottle. Pours a cloudy red with small pink head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is cherry skin, oak, and grain. Thin mouthfeel with light tart cherry and wheat with light tart finish, decent.

Reviewed from notes. Bottled 05/24/2012. Consumed 07/22/12. Into a pint glass (also a snifter, nothing changed). The appearance has a hazy strawberry red body that is too cloudy to see any carbonation. A small white head mushroom capped and turned into the body within ten seconds. The smell has some cherry and alcohol up front with some grains and malts very lightly in the background. The taste, well this really gets me kinda the wrong way: its way tart and sweet through the cherry combining with the malts, reminds me a bit of cherry pie once I noticed how the malts combined. The palate sits about a light to medium with slight carbonation felt on the tongue. Overall, well, I never had a cherry pie for a beer, but with the alcohol smell I can tell its a beer. Two more, I probably will be able to finish, but will probably not buy this again.

Found this beer during a reorganization of my beer fridge. Liked it. Didnít love it. Pours red with a hint of tan. Big bubbly head that quickly dissipated. Scent is fruity and similar to a lambicus. Flavor tastes like a lambic with a touch of ale poured into. Has that lively mouthfeel I am partial to. Bottle - Source Unknown

Just realized Iíve never rated this. Rating from memory since Iíve had this many times. Pours ruby red with a small fizzy head. Aroma is sweet cherry juice with just a small hint of grain. Taste is a bit overpowering with the cherries. I always start off liking it but get tired of it by the time I finish the bottle. Gets very astringent when it warms. Can be enjoyable if itís ice cold.

Bottle: Chill hazed ruby red color with a dingy hint of orange in the center; lavender & pink tinted head fizzles out, resting quietly on top as a thin collar. Aroma is very wildberry smoothie-like with a strong cherry presence all around. Unfortunately, I find the cherry aspect to be quite artificial, medicinal, & almost chalky. Taste is pretty much the same way... Mildly tart cherry up front, fading into a sweet mid-palate & finish with chalky, medicinal, & overly sweet artificial notes. Aftertaste reminds me of a cherry flavored Flintstoneís vitamin. Slightly astringent, too. This is definitely a miss for me... I blended this with Breakfast Stout once, & much preferred the mixture versus Cerise by itself.

Although fruit beers are not really my thing, I discovered the redeeming effects of them after a long hot day working on the lawn. Refreshing, tangy cherry aroma and taste, although I think Founders didnít do themselves any favors with the malts they chose to provide the backbone with this one. The fruit alone is enough to impart the thirst quenching flavors, but the cloying malt flavor goes against that and ruins it. Finish not great.

Picked up a bottle at their place in GR. Pours reddish with a thin pink head. Lots of tart cherries on the nose. Flavor follows. Somewhat tart but not sour. Refreshing summer beer.
