COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
You’ll have a soft spot for this one. Using only fresh Michigan tart cherries, this beauty tantalizes with intense flavors combined with a no hesitation malt bill. Adding fresh cherries at five separate stages of fermentation achieves the ultimate balance between tartness and sweetness.

This is a pretty strong cherry tasting beer. Strong aroma of cherries, not much else. Color is an orangish pink color but clear. Taste is sweet, as to be expected. A little bit syrupy but hard not to be with that much cherry. Medium body with average carbonation. Overall, for a cherry beer, not bad, but too much cherry for me. Seems like Founders had an obligation to include tons of cherries since they are from Michigan. Too many other beers to choose from to try this again.

The beer pours a clear bright pink with little head and lacing. The aroma is light very sweet, a little bit of cherry, but I wish it was more balaned and provided a little tartness. The taste is like the aroma, very sweet, cherry flavored, but its somehow just plain and boring. No complexity here at all. The feel is very bad, worse than water if that’s possible. Drinkability is low. Overall, this is a horrible fruit beer. It should not be consumed.

UPDATED: DEC 1, 2011 Bottle @ Granny’s house in Exira, Iowa. Hazy yellow-orange appearance with a light off white head. Sweet, a touch herbal, cherry fruity aroma. Vinous thick cherry flavor. Again not super strong of fruit flavor but still encapsulates most of the taste. Sweet cherry aftertaste.

Well it didnt quit hit the mark with me. I can taste the cherries, but past that it’s not really the best from Founders.

Honey and cherry aroma. Honey and cherry flavors with a bit of a sweet and sour finish. Tasty desert beer.

Light pink head no lacings. Smells of cherry puree. Sweet with some bitterness. Aromas of cherry puree. Also some aromas of marzipan. Quite pilsnerish in the beginneing - if you look away from the cherry aromas. Surely saved by the relative high bitterness. Medium bodied. Medium to soft carbonation. Bitter cherry aromaed finish.

Location: Draft at RnH, 2/19/11

Aroma: The nose is fairly fruity, lots of cherry, some spice
Appearance: It has a reddish color with some haze to it
Flavor: The taste is rather sweet and sugary with a touch of bitterness
Palate: It has a fairly soft carbonation, medium body, and with a sugary stickiness
Overall Impression: This beer was fairly decent for style. It is interesting to say the least, but not incredible or anything. I’m not generally a huge fruit beer fan by any means, but I did kind of enjoy this one. This is my lowest rated beer from them to date, but that’s only because, from what I’ve tried, Founders really doesn’t make any style badly...
