COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
You’ll have a soft spot for this one. Using only fresh Michigan tart cherries, this beauty tantalizes with intense flavors combined with a no hesitation malt bill. Adding fresh cherries at five separate stages of fermentation achieves the ultimate balance between tartness and sweetness.

A bit of a medicinal cherry aroma. Color is a translucent red with a small pink head. Taste is of sweet cherries with a light malt finish. A bit small for my liking though and the balance is lacking. Think mouthfeel for a fruit beer.

Bottle. Pours a pinkish-amber with a huge foamy pinkish-white head and a lot of lacing. Aroma is light and sour, of cherries, yeast, malt. Taste is sweet and tart, of pie cherries, sugar, baked goods, malt, citrus. Lingering sweet cherry tartness. Very nice and drinkable.

Bottle. Nice head with good duration. Color is amber. Aroma and taste are naturally fermented cherries, malt and notes of caramel.

I wish this beer had more character than it does. No cherry aroma or flavor. They did use some cherries because something offsets the barley flavor but it is not real pleasant. I like Founders Breakfast Stout but there is a world of difference between perfection (Breakfast Stout) and this beer. Less than an "ok".

UPDATED: FEB 16, 2010 12 oz bottle courtesy of Kawabomber......looks like a virgin shirley temple....its just ok....oh wait ...its weak and watery.....its non-explosive on the palate...I expected more from a founders product...the color is the best thing going on here....quite the disappointment for cherry

Pinky red, a few sinky bits. Gentle cherry aroma, but fairly low profile. Gently bitter black cherries, a touch of almond. Some xmas spices. Covers 6.5% well.
