COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
You’ll have a soft spot for this one. Using only fresh Michigan tart cherries, this beauty tantalizes with intense flavors combined with a no hesitation malt bill. Adding fresh cherries at five separate stages of fermentation achieves the ultimate balance between tartness and sweetness.

Tap at CAH. Pours a lightly hazy amber orange with medium creamy off white head. Aroma of cherry pie, crust and all. Flavor cherry pie as well with a nice tart touch.

Hazy, and taking on more of an orange sheen than yesterday. Very thin head. Aroma - Slightly funky, unlike the previous bottle, some barnyard, animal. Otherwise a more or less shy aroma. Mild funk comes through very subtly in the flavor as well, almost like a toned down Cantillon Rose de Gambrinus or some such. Even more enjoyable.

Pours a stunning pomegranate red, with a light pink head. rose petal aroma, cherry. Incredibly delicate cherry flavor, light tartness, just the slightest shade of bitterness in the finish before disappearing. Quite refreshing. Light cereals grain bill. I can’t remember the last time I had a light fruity and tart quaffer like this. Overall, this is very tasty but still a few steps away from being truly delicious. I’d agree with most of cheapdark’s comments. Try not to breathe while drinking this for best effect.

UPDATED: APR 11, 2009 Bottle, bottled on date 04/01/09. A pretty light Mars red color body with a thin soapy head that fades rather quickly, leaving some spotty lacing, lots of soft carbonation. Aroma is of ripe cherries and a wheaty malt, and a very subtle funk type yeast note. Flavor is slightly sweet up front with a bit of carbonation wash and then a some nice wheat flavors, followed by the tart cherries, leaving a nice sweet cherry Jolly Rancher type flavor on your lips, cherry in the finish ,not super complex but has layers of flavors that fit togeather nicely. Fruit Beer is not my favorite style, especially if too tart, but this stuff is very good, very drinkable

A decent fruit beer. Aroma was so so. Cherries and funk with some mildew. Pour was a nice nice stagnant red with a thin off white film for a head. Taste was very fruity and cherry. At first it’s like red cherry but the aftertaste is like you just drank dark cherry juice. As it warms the the dark cherry comes out more and it becomes much sweeter and flavorful. Nice battle of sweet and sour going on. Could use some more carbonation and a stronger aroma, but all in all delicious.

12oz stubby. Pours bright pink/red with a small white head. Aroma is vomity malts and sweet cherries. The malty, beery aspect of this one gets in the way of the cherry aroma, which is an odd complaint. The flavor is better with substantial sweet cherries and a mild tartness. Pretty decent cherry flavor though one dimensional. The aforementioned malts are not noted in the flavor. A slightly above average fruit beer, if that can be considered a compliment.

Bottle. This incarnation of Founders Cherry Ale pours bright red with a medium off-white to pink head. Spicy cherry nose. The body is almost all tart, sweet cherry with crisp carbonation and hints of pale malts and light grassy hops. Simple and refreshing.

From a short stubby 12 oz bottle with a screw cap. Looks somewhat like framboise lambic, without the haze. Very slight aroma of yeast and fruit, not sure if thats cherry or not. Ooh, first taste is impressively tart and fun, much better than I expected for a fruit beer. This stuff was an extra buck, but now I ’m glad i didn’t pass it by. Next sip is quite delicious, I like this stuff! I want to say it is somewhat similar to a sour beer or ffruity lambic but there is this regular ale flavor that is hiding back inside someplace. Very easy to drink without negative ale attitudes. Good, good overall beer drinken experience! Lovely founders. I think I found a founder, heheh, I finally found foundational - lots. This is may be the shizzle. Becareful, this brew gives no hint it is a 6.5%!!

Kinda like a Mikes Hard lemonade I guess. Rather medicinal aroma.Pours a pretty red color with a pink head. Flavors are of tart and slightly sour cherries. Rather crisp mouthfeel. Pretty much what I expected.

Draft, at Capone’s (Norristown, PA). Pours slightly hazy pink, with a small pinkish white head. Closely resembles a wine cooler. Aroma is mainly wheat, with some tart cherry highlights. Flavor begins with wheat, which is soon joined by tart, slightly medicinal, cherry syrup flavor. Finishes a bit tart; flavor is reminiscent of cherry pie filling. Body is a bit thin. Interesting.
