2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 NosirIwont (1586) - Aalborg Vestby, DENMARK - DEC 17, 2009
Bottle. Pours a hazy ruby amber with a small pinkish head. Dusty, malty aroma with a strange spicy touch (sort of like a mix of anise and cloves) and notes of play-doh (!) in the vicinity of the glass, all of which makes for a strange blend. No cherries though. Tart, sweetish flavour with anise, metallic notes and a slight overtone of cherries. Tart, dry anise finish with lingering notes of chamomile. Overall an interesting, if not a very memorable, blend of spices, but it would have been nice with some actual cherry notes in it. Also a bit cloying. Meh. 17-12-09.

12 oz. bottle form CelticBrew. Rosy hued amber pour under a scant, fleeting, pinkish head and no lace. Sweet cherry aroma, almost medicinal, some citrus, and some light brown sugar. Light body and slightly fizzy, some stickiness on the palate. Flavor is decidedly sweet, and the undercurrent of cherry is omnipresent. A very light tartness is about all that prevents it from being cloying. Very one dimensional in my opinion. A fizzy, sweet, fruity beer - not my favorite. I guess even a great brewer like Founders strays off course every now and then.

Bottled at O’Hara’s, Tampere. Orange color with quickly vanishing head. Perfumed aroma with rose, rubber, tart raspberry and tart cherry. Sweet candy like flavor with rubber, rose, strawberry and raspberry. Weird sweet candy and rubber taste, not so pleasant.

Well it didnt quit hit the mark with me. I can taste the cherries, but past that it’s not really the best from Founders.

Bottled. Aroma has cherries and marzipan. Clear, pink-red coloured with a thin, off-white head. The taste is sweet with some bitterness in the bakground. It has cherry-marzipan mostly. Light bodied, not much carbonation.

Not a fan of this one. Has a light red, pinkish color. Smell is not what I was expecting. Smells more of bitter rotten fruit. No cherry at all. Taste is almost like NyQuil. Too bad I didn’t like this one, I’m a fan of Founders. At least everything else I’ve had from them is excellent.
2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 DMRz (230) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - MAY 21, 2009
UPDATED: MAY 24, 2009 Pours a light pinkish red colour with a short white head. Aroma is sour cherry, almost kriek like. Flavor is much sweeter than I was expecting, with a somewhat chemical quality similar to maraschino cherries - not in a good way. I also found this to be a bit thin and overall was unimpressed.

Bottle at home.
Light hazy reddish and amber with an off-white head. Aroma moderate malty and cherries. Flavor artificial cherry-sweet, then acidic. Medium body. Strange.
