Draft @ Brick Store 15th Anniversary Party. Poured an dark amber/brown with fluffy tan head and very nice staying power. Smell was quite unexpected, but nice. Immediately I noticed a sour tinge that I am not sure if that was the intention. I also got some nuttiness, earthy tones and sweet roasted malts. Taste was the same, in that the sourness was unexpected. However, the sour was nicely integrated into the smooth nutty taste with a hint of vanilla and some dark roast. Perhaps this was barrel aged. Perhaps this was the Frangelic Mountain Brown that turned infected and ending up with a nice and desirable sour note. Who the hell knows. But I do know out of all the beers I had this day at the Brick Store, Founders CSX was not only the most interesting, it was probably the best. Mouthfeel was a bit thin, with mediuim carbonation. Just a great surprise.
