| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 22, 2009 Smells of raison, honey, and butterscotch. The first sip is funky, very unique tasting beer. Has a creamy body. Tastes like a butterscotch candy mixed with vanilla, caramel, and rum. This is a peculiar beer, with lots of interesting flavors. Has a moderate bitterness, some sugary notes as well, with a lasting alcohol finish. It is low on my drinkability scale though due to its buttery, honey characteristics. Appearance: ruby red with touch of amber , mid shaded top , vintage ivory. Nose: deep woody with sweetness of caramel paired with oak and alcohol. Touch of Bourbon ? Great depth. 8+ Flavor/Palate : Mid full bodied. Woody , cask character , hint of Bourbon noted. Light bitterness with wet old wood feel on sides. Alcohol is well covered with some apparent warmth at finish. High quality sipper.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 15, 2009 Had the bottle in my fridge for a good while. Poured small, smooth tan head that mostly diminished, no lacing, minimal carbonation, semi-transparent, and an orange brown hue. Aroma was of oak, caramel, vanilla, malty, sweet, alcohol, and earthy. Flavour was malty, caramel, vinuous, vanilla, and sweet. Dangerously smooth, tasty beer. Too bad I only had the one. PorterPounder (3136), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 15, 2009 Eagan, Mn. - Cellars Wines and Spirits, 12 oz bottle. Medium copper pour with a slight white head. Alcohol dominant aroma with some bourbon accents. Strong malt accented flavor with lots of bourbon accents. Kind of hard to get through to the actual flavor and essence of this beer. Some nuttiness and toffee comes through but in my opinion it misses the mark. Rich mouthfeel to say the least. after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 12, 2009 12-oz. Pours a nearly opaque blackish ebony. Thin but fairly dense creamy tannish head that doesn’t stick around long at all. Light carb, heavy body. Cola and spice nose. A little thick and sticky drinkin’. More cola, spice, and some cookie dough form the mid-palate. Decent effort. Kinda makes me thirsty for an Adam though. chicagodri (1041), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 9, 2009 I also finally got around to buying this. Pours amber with a thin off white head. Aroma of sweet malt, some booze, raisins?, and caramel. Good flavor, thick with the malt and booze sort of dominating. For an old ale I didn’t imagine it would be 9.8%, but it is incredibly drinkable. Good stuff. madvike (314), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 8, 2009 Tap @ Glass Nickel’s pre-GTMW party - I’ve always seen this 4-pack sitting on the shelves but always found something else to buy. Finally got it on tap and wasn’t disappointed. Poured a deep amber with no head. Smells sweet, malty, and boozy. The glassware wasn’t the best, so it was hard to get the aroma off this one. Taste was caramel, smooth malt, and raisins. Sweet and syrupy, just like I’d expect. I think I’ll finally pick up that 4-pack for the cellar.
