COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Old Ale conjures up thoughts of classic sea fairing ports, there local pubs and the weathered fisherman that frequent them. In traditional style Curmudgeon is brewed with an intense focus on the malt bill creating a very strong, rich, malty characteristic and a sweetness indicative of its cousin the barleywine. We are especially proud of the balance in this beer making it deceptively smooth and drinkable at 9.8% alcohol by volume.
Editor’s Note - The 2006 bottled version has been aged in bourbon barrels.

355 ml bottle. Hazy coppery colour, thin off-white head. Caramel-malty aroma, with syrupo and berries. The flavour is sweet, caramel-malty, with wood notes, dried fruits and a warm finish. Very tasty.

Aroma: faintly sweet and malty; Appearance: clear, dark brown with minimal head; Taste: smoothly bitter with sweet finish; some molassas, some booziness, oaky; Palate: full body with creamy texture, average carbonation with some lacing; flavorful finish; Overall: very complex and balanced; can actually taste the oakiness; intriguing flavor - different than most ales; a little twang that I can’t place; would definitely buy again.

A nice, sweet ale and much more than I expected. Lovely color..light coppery gold. Pleasing aroma...taste is a surprise because is truly is awash with molasses sweetness. My personal preference is stout so I prefer a thick beer which this is not. Overall I am satisfied and this is in fact the second time I have brought this brew home.

Bottle, 355ml. A clear ruby beer with a medium size white foamy head and some lacing. Aroma is of bourbon, spices, malt, alcohol and something that reminds me of white chocolate. Taste is bitter with a strong sweet double aftertaste. Some carbonation and astringency. Aftertaste reminds me of caramel.

Bottle, 355ml. Clear ruby with a creamy tan head. Dry, earthy aroma of molasses, roasted caramel, spices, bourbon. Robust bodied with moderate carbonation. Sweet malty and fruity character, with an exquiste sweet finish. Alcohol is very well masked. Complex and heavy, but tasty and utterly drinkable. Very pleasant.

Rödbrun öl, lätt grumlig med beige skum. Söt sockrig maltig doft med hintar av alkohol. God lagom söt smak, lite karamellig med en ok beska. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
