4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Beautiful aroma of eggnog, cinnamon, toffee, white chocolate fudge, vanilla horchata, brown sugar, old leather, and booze. The pour is deep amber with no head. The taste closely mirrors the aroma, being mostly sweet and mildly bitter, with a splash of alcohol. Syrupy palate with minor, prickly carbonation. Balanced, flavorful, substantial. Perfect for a winter evening by the fireplace. Oh, Founders, how I love you. Lovely!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A mid amber orange coloured beer with a weak white head. A syrupy malt aroma, caramel, and a vinous, Port-like sweetness. A full-bodied mouthfeel. A huge, malt taste, vinous and raisiny, plus caramel and toffee. The alcohol makes an appearance, that tempers the sweetness with a refreshing sourness. The sweetness takes over again in the finish.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Mane Liquor. All hail the cumdungeon. Clear amber pour with a slightly sticky beige head. Nose is full of coconut, deep molasses and caramel. Seems very oaky with plenty of silly sweet vanilla. Taste is sticky toffee, honeycomb, molasses, vanilla and light coconut. Plenty going on. Fair kick of heat to finish with. Quite sticky sweet. Very solid

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours dark copper with a large off-white head.
Nose shows vanilla oak notes, sweet rich molasses, chocolate malt, hazelnut and sweet caramel.
Similar woody and vanilla oak characters as flavours alongside some light roasted malt, booze and heaps of sweet syrupy malt.
Nice moderate carbonation and syrupy body.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, 2012 vintage, poured into mini snifters. Aroma is completely oak forward, with some toasty character, deep earth, some malted sweetness, woody, slight oxidized note. Pours a reddish brown with some clarity and small amount of bubbles concentrating to the middle of the glass. After a big the bubbles disappear, leaving a still looking beverage. Taste is up front oak, with some molasses, dates, must, light caramel, some paper, and lots of alcohol spice, tannic. After taste is mostly a boozy burn. Body is thin with soft carbonation. Overall I think this may be a bit oxidized and too boozy for my palate. The oak character is nice at first but it dries out the tongue and leaves too much of a tannic bite.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz bottle from 2013 release. The pour is a nice deep copper, with an off-white head and a spotty lace down the side of the glass. The aroma is quite complex. There is a bit malt character throughout it. I like the toffee and molasses and how they provide a great sweetness throughout the nose. There is a subtle smokiness and some light oak on the back end. The flavor is just as complex. There is again, that big malt note on the front end. The molasses offers a great thickness and sweet flavor. The toffee fades through a little bit of an oak before the little bit of an alcohol burn sets in. The mouth feel is a touch thin, but the aftertaste is great. Not the best old ale out there, but it's a good one
