Ungstrup (11378), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 7, 2007 Bottled, 2006 version. A hazy amber beer with a beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of hops and caramel. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of caramel as well as light notes of alcohol, and notes of whiskey, with a thick flowing body. Papsoe (10394), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 1, 2007 (Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of sk8viking. Hazy, dark amber golden with a creamy, beige head leaving laces. Spicy aroma with distinct bourbon notes - I suspect Founders actually ADD bourbon here. Very full-bodied with sweet caramel malt and again these delicate, oaky bourbon notes. Absolutely wonderful. 290407 Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Mar 22, 2008 Toffee-beige colour and hazy. Earthy, toffeeish nose with late alcohol, minerals and shiitake mushrooms. Sweet, with a hard body. Some brown sugar, more minerals and late alcohol. Somewhat uncohesive. argo0 (6230), Washington DC, USA Jul 23, 2006 (12oz bottle) Cloudy copper-brown body with small beige head. Aroma is sweet, raisin, caramel, cherry, some coconut, light chocolate, smoke, butterscotch, wood. Taste is sweet, cherry, caramel, raisin, light pineapple/coconut. Finish has light smoky bourbon, enough to notice the alcohol numbing and to complement the beer itself, and thankfully, not enough to do anything more. Sticky full body with low carbonation. A hot summer evening probably wasn’t the ideal time to sample this wonderful beer, but I’m glad I did anyhow. Emil (6077), Copenhagen, Denmark May 4, 2007 Bottle 2006. Hazy amber colour with a big beige head. Caramel malt, grape, wood, vanilla aroma and taste. Medium to full body with a sweet vanila, wood, bourbon whisky finish.
